Through searching I see there are a lot of queries already on this topic however I had a few specific questions so apologies for another thread!
The Mantec plastic jobby seems to have issues with letting heavy spray in. Reported here and on other forums. I don't know if this same issue also affects the metal construction Mantec version? The Safari snorkel appears to need the aerial repositioning on the front wing. Is this simply an inner wing position change or does this require a new hole to be drilled in the wing top? Just trying to find the one with the least issues / hassle that can be effectively sealed! Cheers! |

Only affects the 'plastic jobby' for some people but for most its ok. All the others seem fine for that issue.
I dont know where you heard that about the safari? Ive never heard of that before and mine fitted straight on without the aerial being anywhere near. The safari in my opinion is the best and has the advantage of sealing properly and is easy to fit. Ive got a genuine land rover one for my puma (same as plastic jobby) but it isnt a snorkel only a raised air intake. Bit confused though as I'm not sure if Safari have changed the design. Some people refer to it sealing against the wing and others saying there is a moulded pipe that passes through the wing and does away with the plastic land rover air duct. Not sure if the new ones just seal against the wing? If so the metal mantec seems the way to go as that seals against the wing but could be really tightened up! Anyone know know if the Safari has changed? |

That was the current td5 one (still available now i believe) and came with the internal pipework aswell as instructions for other bits to seal to make water tight.

Paddocks list a DA3069, elsewhere i see 580HF ? cheers! |

I've fitted mantec plastic jobby and now a safari. Neither has caused the ariel to be repositioned. The mantec caused problems in high spray conditions that caused MAF failure, and air filter was so wet, water was running out of it. The safari is a better sealed unit, with a nice set of instuctions, and good set of seals, where the mantec requires lots of silicon sealer.
The 580HF is the newer version and the HF is for High Flow. Andy |

interesting that some people seem to need to move their aerial! Was yours the standard fitment LR aerial? and was it the 580HF you fitted to yours? |
