The bulbs are sunk into the speedo, If you get a long pair of decent tweezers you can grip the flat sides of the bulb and twist them to remove the bulbs. You should then see some contacts on the holder.
Have a shuffties at the link above for more info. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

I attacked an old pair of long nosed pliers with a grinder in order to reduce them in size to something small enough to fit

Those mini long nose pliers look a great idea.
I did this job earlier in the week and it's a bloody fiddly job even with tweezers. 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop Now a 2013 110 USW too. |

Had bought another Def TD5 speedo cluster a few years back ( was going to put on'87 90) have a spare to play with. Takes about 10 seconds to change one of the bulbs after a trial run.
Am now awaiting new SMD LED's hope they fit eBay eBay Item No. 161034467304. As its so easy to fit might get some red ones for winter driving, or a set for spare speedo. Can't believe I don't read my old posts... http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic12373.html Socket seems sensible! Peter Kent LRC. |
