Mine is a fairly low mileage Defender so I'll probably extend the warranty (I've not any issues with my gearbox yet so I'd like to get to 30-40k to know that it's ok).
That said, it depends how much they quote me. It'll be due in December so I'll have to decide then. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

Lookers Chelmsford have quoted £550 with LR Assist and £450 without. Both for 1 year warranty extension.
Direct Debit available of course! Expensive, but the cost of anything that might need doing would dwarf it no doubt! Dilema. Think we'll go with it. |

Ive been tolod that with the extended warranty's anything that costs over £500 they have to send an inspector out to see what needs doing and if theres anyway it can be made cheaper for them. If your car isnt how landrover made it i.g modified in anyway they will just pull the plug on your warranty!!!
Also i have a friend with a D3 who has an extended warranty from landrover and basiclly it covers anything that doesnt brake/ fail. There is lots of loop holes for them to get out of!!!!! Hes had lots of issues with leaky sunroofs and gearbox faults and they always seem to find either a cheaper alternative to try first or a way around it so they can blame him. |

Just had a quote from Warrantwise which say it covers Defenders that came in around the £570 mark..
Like all insurance its a gamble, but with Garage costs being what they are it doesn't take long for a Big Bill.. |

I have been told by my land rover dealer in Dubai, UAE that they DO NOT extend warranties on defenders only on the rest of the land rover fleet. I find this absurd tried to contact Land Rover Middle East but no answer. '08 LR Defender 110

Taking in account the failures that I had in the past, an extended guarantee could worth it.
I will ask if this option of extended guarantee is available here in Chile. Cheers Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" Click image to enlarge |
