Do you have the clutch fully engaged when reversing?
If only partly engaged it could just be the infamous TD5 clutch groan.

Hi Laurie - I engage reverse with clutch fully depressed then as I let it out and the start rolling backwards it starts to groan. It continues to groan until I select a forward gear (never tried anything other than 1st in high) and groaning stops as soon as I start moving forward

Cheers

@Dan... is it practical to reverse out in low box??

Better low speed control and so little/no need to slip the clutch and potentially create the groan... Just a thought Smile

Cheers Monkey Thumbs Up Worth a test but probably not practical in the long run

Td5 clutches only have an 'infamous clutch groan' if the spigot bush is noisy Thumbs Up

Mine's groaned as long as I've had it - from 6,700 miles.
