Heated windscreen. Brilliant.
It may be old hat to you sophisticated XS types but my sub-poverty spec hardtop has just been fitted with a heated windscreen (along with a lot of other stuff) by Ian at IRB.

It is such an improvement to have a screen that no longer mists up every time you get in wearing a wet coat or with a wet dog.

As I say, lots of you have probably got them but it's a real treat as far as I am concerned.

If you're wondering about getting one, wonder no longer...... 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop

Since you ask, quite a lot!

Central locking inc. rear door
Electric windows
Heated rear screen
Tracker
Front fogs
Heated seats
LED loadspace interior light
New engine and bulkhead looms
Vents to side windows
Heated mirrors

I have to say that none of them would photograph very well but the heated windscreen, central locking and interior rear light are really great to have. I'm in the 20th century at last!

21st century to follow...... 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop

I wanted to go genuine for the central locking / e windows but I found that no firm could be arsed to work up a quote for the parts (there's obviously quite a few).

Result was I bought a couple of fully-equipped doors from a forum member and asked IRB to swap all the kit over.

I plan to get round to selling those doors, now with manual windows, some time to reduce the expense.

I got Waeco heated seats, which are great and have two heat settings but the LR OEM switch only offers on or off, so I've got aftermarket switches for them in the cabin.

Good luck! 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop

I recommend air conditioning. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

I'd like it too but it looks like a lot of work to retrofit and Ian tells me the cabin space is compromised by the extra ductwork/vents etc.

I'm 6'4' and the legs need all the room they can get. 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop

I'm just repairing 130 TD5 from HCPU to station wagon and air con is a must. I'm still comparing to our Disco2 TD5 witch we currently use for traveling.
Original AC for TD5 Def is only good for some spare parts for me, as I'm also not small. My plan is to modiffy the heater box and place there also the AC evaporator.
And because of large internal volume of 130 wagon, I'm thinking of a second heater exchanger in the rear of cab - for traveling in winter, Webasto auxilliary heater for cold nights and second air con evaporator for aditionall cooling - simillar to Discovery2. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "BlufĂnek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile
