Not difficult, though the weight of the gearbox doesn't help. If you have a 4-post lift and a gearbox jack it is very straightforward.

It is a days work. Easy job if you split two gearboxes and take t box out first.

^^^ Which is especially worthwhile on a Puma since you can inspect the infamous adaptor shaft splined coupling.

As said,, not that hard, and much easier than a TD5

In one lump,, but worth splinting to check the shaft spline California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

Do able in a day. As already done puma clutch on works 110 I know which bits to take off now Whistle

Got a landrover mate helping so extra pair of hands will help a great deal with these on your drive repairs Thumbs Up

Am able to borrow a transmission jack as cant get it up on a 4 post ramp.

The last puma had a gearbox fault so had to come right out. I guess you only need to pull it away from the engine enough to do the job & get it back asap Chris

Here's an interesting thread...not a Puma, but probably fairly similar?

autodata repair times allow 4.1 hours r&i , so most garages will quote 4.5 hours labour ( or should !!! )

I had the clutch replaced on a TD5, and it was just under £1000, but that also included a full service whilst it was in...so maybe £750-£800... Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)
