Hi there, Sounds like the EGR valve has given up the ghost which would bring on the mil light and also put the engine down on power. There should be several threads on this if you do a search as its a common Puma fault. The valve can be removed and cleaned to get it working again if it has sooted up or will need replaced otherwise.Hope this helps! Filling up with V power is just a coincidence I think!

As above in my experience don't be hasty. See how long it stays on and if possible count the start up cycles until it extinguishes.
It's worth bearing in mind EGR readings can affect MAF readings too. As K9F mentions however it's probably a nuiscence fault code iluminating the MIL which will go off. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

Diagnostics show defective egr solenoid. Also during the routine service I have been advised to replace idlers, tensioner and belts. Oh joy just before Christmas!
Normal for mileage of 106k ish? |

got in the truck this morning
started it up and engine light on. was driving fine last night with no engine light on any ideas,things to check before I phone LR assistance many thanks Steve |

Use a OBD diagnostics set if you have one to see what the fault is

As above if it is a nuisance code like the P1103 it will reset automatically after a few driving cycles. If the truck's running fine just stay local if possible for a couple of days or do a few runs and see what happens. You could potentially pay for a diagnostic you don't need. Alternatively if you're still under warranty (Edit* Which you obviously are) whip it in or call LR assist. Invest as stated above in an OBD fault reader.

Not necessarily. For example the EGR P1103 is "Mass Air Flow Sensor In Range But Higher Than Expected" this will put on a MIL light but no limp mode and reset automatically, P1102 at the other end of the scale will do exactly the same and is "Mass Air Flow Sensor In Range But Lower Than Expected" there are numerous codes such as these that I call 'nuisance codes' as there is nothing really wrong but it puts on a worrying MIL light for no real reason. As you are under warranty and if you have the time and have your truck with you at work give LR Assist a ring and Mr AA man will sort you out.
After certain modifications I used to suffer this issue on a regular basis and bought a Scangauge so I could read and reset it. With an EGR off upgrade it is now a thing of the past for me. Being under Warranty is really a no brainer as it will cost you nowt to get it sorted but perhaps a small inconvenience of a phonecall and about 10 minutes of diagnosis time if this is indeed the issue here. Ive had the Air mass flow meter come up on mine recentley just reset with my OBD reader High Flow as said its just a nuisance if it is that ofcourse but allways better to get it checked dont you know any mechanics they will have one and check it for free

Thanks again guys for the help yesterday.
Got home early to call out the LR assist and started the truck up and low and behold No bloody light came on. Just been out on 12 mile run and still no light. The defender gods must of heard me yesterday. See what happens over the next few days. |
