Battery Fumes and Compressor
So, I'm fitting a Viair in the battery box... I've read various post and articles that suggest a remote positioning for the air intake to avoid moisture as the battery box gets wet - being a new Defender and doing little wading I'm not so worried about that issue...

However I am thinking that any batteries fumes in the box might be a greater issue - Do I add the remote air intake and position it external to the box?

Would compressing any fumes be dangerous - compressed Hydrogen is a bomb! But then the battery is vented - am I worrying something that will never happen?

Or should I remote locate the air intake because that's best practice anyway...

Thoughts and advice very much welcomed.

Matt

Likeomg... Thanks for the comments - I don;t think it will go nuclear but any explosive gas under compression would not be great. The under seat box is pretty much full of 'electrics' I've looked and moving them around but it seems a huge efforts when there is the perfect space in the passenger side box...

if it's the OEM battery then it has a small tube/vent that passes through the battery box to the outside to vent any fumes from the wet battery. (Gell batteries are sealed.)

just to add the LR precision engineered battery box does allow some air movement unless you use expanding foam Thumbs Up

I guess the thread is just do it... I might just relocate anyway, just to be safe on both the gas and water front!

Thanks chaps for the contributions...
