Dynamic Stability Control
From 2015 all UK and European specification Defenders will be fitted with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) as standard. This will be packaged with ABS and therefore means that all new UK and European specification Defenders will have ABS with Electronic Traction Control (ETC) and DSC as standard. ABS will also be available for the first time on 130 wheel base Defender models. http://newsroom.jaguarlandrover.com/en-in/...ks_190214/ Discovery 5 td6 HSE Stornoway Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition IID Pro MV License |

Does this mean its sat on the T5 chassis then DSC requires all sorts of sensors.

I'm confused...
it certainly won't be anything other than some electrical gubbins stuck on, but why are we getting it at all? 'from 2015' - so we will get a new model year with DSC, new colours etc and it will be around for less than a year? Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Nice, hope that there will be a few interesting Defenders at the March motor show here.
BUT,.... as to this Land Rover official communication by Ms. Murray, Senior Communications Officer, Land Rover... (see quote below) She is making a capital mistake, red card, totally unacceptable for a company with global reach like Land Rover. Dear Ms. Murray, please tell me, if you look at a map, where is the UK? Part of which continent? Member of which Union?...... eric, i think it was clearer the way she said it...?
if she'd said 'European spec defenders will come with DSC', then I'd assume that was with the intentional exclusion of the UK... European spec is different as far as i know, isn't aircon etc easier to get (i.e. present in lower trim levels?) and obviously RHD not LHD... Someone who knows.. Inform me what DSC is?
Is it just traction control with a silly name and a bigger brain? Or does it involve some other system to just braking wheels? Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Digital Stability Control I'd imagine, cannot be certain though, just an educated guess. No Guts, No Glory.

I know what the letter stand for
As in, what does the system do? Is it just basically traction control? Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Trim levels vary in numerous European countries, so this has nothing to do with it. RHD or LHD is irrelevant here too. DSC is a technical safety feature which will be installed on all pan-European type approved vehicles. I know, some isl@nders continue to nurture the idea that they are not really part of Europe, and keep making these distinctions. In multinational companies like mine, or LRJ for that matter, communication should be screaned and politically corrected for things like this. I raised the topic, because with us this phrase would just not fly. Eric You never actually own a Defender. I understand the Dynamic stability control will also include roll over mitigation. This is something present in most SUVs but not the defender until next year.
DSC differs from TRC in that rather than simply trying to limit wheel spin (and hence retain traction) it attempts to modify the attitude of the vehicle to match what the driver is demanding. In other words, it tries to help you round a corner. Or in the case of roll over mitigation, yep- you guessed it; stop the vehicle rolling over. It remains to be seen if this system is switchable, I.e. For off road driving, or if it de-activates below a certain speed to achieve the same. Legislation can be the only reason for such introduction at 15MY. It'll require a few accelerometers and yaw sensors to make it work, probably lifted from another JLR product. |

Ok yeah, so this is the system that the new jeep grand Cherokee so famously was slated for having a rubbish version of? Remember seeing it go scampering around all over the place, cocking wheels and sliding through all the cones! Made me giggle. (Don't mention the defender rolling! )
Gotta be a good thing. Although it can't help if you drive over a 55 degree side slope or slide sideways down a hill! Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

So are they saying that they are going to fit DSC on a vehicle that's going out of production a few months after they release the new spec?
I lifted the paragraph below from Google, as you will note there are lots of sensors involved, do you really think they will fit this lot and get it working? DSC, short for Dynamic Stability Control is a suspension control system which goes beyond the single components of ABS, Cornering Brake Control (CBC) and Automatic Stability Control. It works by monitoring each wheel speed individually along with yaw rate and longitudinal and lateral acceleration through various sensor. The DSC module also receives information from vehicle speed and engine speed, throttle position, brake pedal position/force and the steering angle sensor. All of this information collected is fed to the DSC control module and process. |
