I have the same problem.... Also no alarm (genuine alarm has been disabled, and after market immobiliser installed, all by previous owner) - my interior lights do work on manual switch but do not respond to door switches... Cheers, Vincent

That probably explains it then.... I have an alarm on mine, if both of yours behaves in the same way then you'll know why it works in that way. You could always wire it yourself though to behave in the way you want it to though.. No Guts, No Glory.

Thanks Steve the previous owner was aware of fault at least he offered the tale told by L.R.{ allegedly } farmers leaving door open etc so may be system fault but cant rule out a fiddle somewhere. |

Rewiring is not that complicated I think, but as I have just replaced the roof lining a short time ago (and forgot to address the problem then), I am a bit hesitating to start again with that. It is not the first on my priority list right now. As the 10AS is present I would plug in a diagnostic tool and check the settings page before attempting to rewire the interior light. The first thing I would check is that the interior light smart option and the welcome light are set to enabled. I would have been surprised if there was no 10AS fitted as it is needed to allow a couple of other things to work on a standard Puma, as it is not just an alarm unit.

Hi just back from Greenbank 4x4 independant L.R. specialists where Ewan employed his diag box. It seems I HAVE an alarm {disabled} but NO KEY FOB sorry I should have made that more clear. Went through a pretty thorough look but it was not playing Even though he programed a fob was unable to smart the interior light. Suggested a possible ECU fault. I can see the logic as to why the interior lights are linked to alarm. Bought with 2 non fob keys so must have come from factory that way but would assume this must be re-programable? Advised to bring back for further investigation. Very helpful guy spent a good 30 mins on it. Any help before I book it in?. Thanks to you and the others for taking an interest. Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

Check the ignition barrel for the transducer coil. Whether it is fitted or not will determine the settings required to be programmed into the 10AS module

Brian - If you don't mind me asking, the page above, what sort of diagnostics displays that info and settings? A basic tool certainly doesn't or is that some mind of software linked up to a laptop? No Guts, No Glory.

That was taken from the 10AS settings page from a BBS MSV2 diagnostic tool linked up to my toughbook. The MSV allows access to all the modules on a Puma and allows new settings to be written direct, which can cause major issues if you dont know what you are doing.

Looks interesting, but not to be fiddled with! I was rather worried about the mods I added to the lighting circuit especially the 10AS controlled causing some undesirable effects but I knew wiring wise and electrically everything was sound and accurate and everything worked brilliant from that day to this.
I now have my own custom lighting including the interior light all in sync with the system, I'm so pleased I'd be lost without it! No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |
