It is almost certainly the main lighting switch (stalk) - same one been used for years so at least it's cheap and available and a fairly easy job to do yourself.

Or replace with LEDs to reduce the current draw through the switch perhaps? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Thanks for the links K9F
So it looks like I need to change the switch as there's no relay right? How straight forward is this? Plug and play or soldering required? Also does the steering wheel need to come off to do this? Thanks guys Mark |

No soldering required, it's all plugs. Wheel doesn't need to come off but removing it does make the job a lot easier (it's very easy to remove the wheel).

Many thanks Blackwolf.
That sounds like something I can take care off on Saturday myself. Thanks to all of you for your replies. Mark |

I had this issue last month and bought a new switch. However when the truck was in for its service whilst awaiting delivery of the part, the garage repaired the switch with some solder so now I keep the switch as a spare in my truck tool box just in case the switch goes whilst out and about. Always better to be prepared, saves having to drive home with the sidelights which far too many members on this site have had to do 2007 (57) Defender 90 (Sold)
Looking for another to replace it. The road less travelled.... is a muddy one! |

Better to be prepared and RELAY the lights. solve the problem, not the symptoms
