I am told that last week there were 5000 flooded homes in England, 60 of which were in Somerset. If true, this might explain the disposition of aid.

I do not know how accurate these figures are, they were reported on the ITV news.

I fully understand the procedure for MACC tasks, I had to brief senior officers at Warminster about when I was there.
But I do feel that he Thames Valley has had a bit of preferential treatment over this flooding.

OK, wasnt quite sure who it was aimed at.

But saying that, 33 EOD Regt deployed after the bombings in London. They got as far as the M25, where the Met caught wind of it and were politely told they weren't wanted and to go home.
Seems they thought they could bypass the MACC protocols and do their own thing. 110 D250 SE HT

That is old news. Those Royal Engineers arrived there several weeks ago If I remember correctly.

Strange how it takes weeks for help to arrive in Somerset, but as soon as there is a hint of water rising in the Thames Valley,, the Army are mobilised and there is an unlimited budget announced.

Never mind the Army, the Royal Navy have just stopped all shore based training to help.

So 60 houses flooded in Somerset, 5,000 houses flooded in southern England??

Nearly 2,000 houses were flooded in Carlisle!

Or the houses repeatedly flooded in Calderdale. Flooded residents were given £150 grant!

Floods in south of England will get whatever money is necessary! The north of England??

There are way more than 50 homes flooded in Somerset and some have been flooded for 6 weeks now. If the rain stops it's going to take 6 weeks to clear the water. Until you have seen it first hand you can't quite understand what it's like, it's like a disaster movie

I haven't seen it as I don't want to be a "flood tourist" but I can imagine all there is to be seen is water manly tops of trees and a few tall buildings. Shocked $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R
