Price is specified. Roughly 50% materials 50% labour (40 hours +).

Im sure your delighted with it as it looks fantastic, ill be doing similar to my next 90.
Only thing I would add and not wishing to put a dampener on it at all, but id strongly suggest getting a few prices for the box if you have it done.
I use Iroko a lot with our boat building and if it did cost them 50% for that quantity they need to change their timber yard.
Id suggest in the UK there will be many yards that wouldn't charge near that for teak and would be around £800- £1000.
(I know Iroko has many benefits, Ive just finished building myself a new 13" classic style local skiff with it and its a lovely wood for heavy wear areas, but is cheaper than teak to buy per plank.)

I dont mean this as any offence as looks like they have done it very nicely and I wouldn't fancy doing it! but to others in the UK thinking of getting it done you should be able to get it for less, more so for standard shape load beds.

Tom, I've had it made out of iroko, too.
The floor has been completely custom made to my wishes and satisfaction. Even vat inclusive I have paid far less.

Glad to hear your price was less! Looks fantastic, being Iroko it will get a beautiful dark color as it gets older to.
It really is a lovely wood to look at and work with.

Sorry about that, I saw the post when it was first done and admired it, but was rather shocked when I saw 3000 when I skim read through it again! Just saw the little dutch flag and didn't look back Whistle

Photo's are not of my car. My Dragon sailboat is currently buld (with Teak deck)in the Netherlands. I took the photo's of the 130 in this topic to the yard and asked for a price. One of the guy's there also drives a Puma 130, so he know the car.

For the Teak alone (9x48 mm primer+kit) it is Euro 325,- per Square Meter. (3 m2 counted - Euro 975,-).
As underlayment Multiplex 20 years proof. 2 plates (Euro 70,- each)
Alloy rails Euro 115,-

Labour at Euro 40,-/hour. It's a weeks work.

I have all the tools to do the job myself. Unfortunately I am not so experienced in woodworking.

I've realized now I've looked back!
Ill be doing the work myself when I do it as work restoring boats, just looked at the quoted price which is pretty high for the work involved!
I love the shape of Dragons and have sailed on one a bit in the past as have a fair sized fleet nearby in Aldborough, very elegant boats. Here's a picture of a 13' Rowing skiff I just finished for myself as had a quieter spell being the winter, made to a local design in GRP in our family colours with an Iroko and Oak fit out (The timber cost me about £350 inclusive of VAT, but no labour charged obviously in the UK). It used 4 16' raw sawn planks, which at a rough guess would do 2/3 130's and have a fair amount left over. Might be useful if someone is considering having a go them selves. Obviously a Hi cap rear tub will be harder than the standard rectangle, but should still be achievable to anyone with the correct tools and a bit of basic wood working skills.

Don't have a template, don't even have that 130 anymore. Big Cry
Big mistake selling her last year, resulting in having to buy a used one back recently.

Anyways. I think not one loadbed is exactly the same. They made a template with small strips of wood. Will probably have them make a new one again in a couple of months.

Not too worried about scratches by the way. The first one will hurt but the car stays with me for a long time. So after a year or two I think it will look better and better.



How is it fixed to the vehicle?

Think I answered that one already. 😉
Anyways, bonded with kit the same as they do with a wooden deck on a steel ship. The cargo rails also had blind rivnuts.
Had the car for three years and carried everything from firewood, garden soil and even two complete axles from a Patrol (never again as they were bloody heavy to get in and out the bed). We also used it as a sleeping platform on camping trips. The deck withstood everything.
Miss my old car actually... 😢
