Stainless steel EGR blanking kits
If anyone is interested i have a limited number of stainless steel EGR blanking kits available. Each kit includes 6 blanking plates with pre drilled holes for the flange M8 studs at each end. Center hole Plate (1) 10mm,Plate (2) 12mm, Plate (3) 14mm , Plate (4) 16mm, Plate (5) 18mm, Plate (6) 20mm. . also included is two M8 blots and spring washers just incase you want / need to replace tapped studs and locking nut fitted on late 08 defenders upwards. i need a reasonable amount of orders to get larger quantity made to help keep costs down . also then have the resource to donate to the forum Thumbs Up Thumbs Up contact 07912 943434 or email owendaley@btconnect.com for further details. Laurie i don,t have a minimum amount i have to have made but in multiples of ten would see costs come down.

Whats the point of all the plates Question All holes below 19mm Ø will throw a fault. Thumbs Up 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile

i understand you may have try,d holes below this but it looks like vechicles , EGR airflow sensors vary alot!!! i,m running mine at the min with an 8mm hole. with no management lights. also to get most out of blanking the less recycled air the better. so i think its right to start with a smaller hole and find what suits individual engines... Thumbs Up are you worried about fault codes or like me just don,t want management light on?

Simple English grammar and spelling would make this advert more plausible.
Who is going to buy something from someone who can't even be bothered to use their shift key?

The vehicle requires the fault to show 3 times successively to throw the light up. I cover on average 300 to 1000 miles a week in all driving conditions. We could go for weeks before the light would come on, we would check the for reason why the light come on, if it was related to air flow, we would clear the faults and enlarge the hole and start all over again. This process took over 6 months to conclude that the 19mm Ø hole was the minimum Ø to reduce the air flow but also keep the light out Thumbs Up

If you look at the pictures below showing the honeycomb matrix of the transfer pipe. There are 19 holes that are 7mmØ. These holes produce a surface area of 731mm². A blanking plate that has a 19mmØ hole in it will completely blank out the perimeter 12 holes totalling in = 462mm². It also blanks part of the the next six in, say a third of each hole, this totals to 77mm². Add these together and you get 539mm² blanked off, this leaves 192mm² open. The 19mmØ hole reduces the usable surface area by 73.73% This figure ain't far off a 3/4 restriction in the air flow. Its a happy compromise in engine performance V the environment V engine management.

Agreed the time you have put into your engine / airflow sensor / egr valve testing proves that 19mm is right for your vechicles paramiters. As you know these puma engines seem to vary alot . Thanks for the advice will leave mine at 8mm and let you known what happens. Thumbs Up

Robo,

I understand your sentiment and the fact that you are possibly allowing each and every individual the ability to blank their Egr Valve to get the most out of it! I have had problems with my EGR Valve of late and it has cost me the inconvenience of losing my remap, apart from calling LR assist too! I cannot be ar5ed with the 'faff' of changing blanks over and over or ending up with surplus ones that I have no use for! I already have the begging bowl out with Pete from BAS but appreciate he is busy and it may take time! With all the research that has been done, if you could provide me with just a single stainless plate with a 19mm hole in I would be as happy as a sand flea! Can you give some indication as to 'how much?' If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Thanks Robofarmer!
I spoke to Robofarmer at length last week and decided in the abscence of any other information or source of blanking kits, that what Robo had to say did make sense from a 'Layman's' perspective. Mr Woo is also having success with his set up. I obtained a kit of six blanks off of Robo and they arrived Saturday. Fekete was staying at my gaff and this morning was the first time I was sober enough to attempt any spannering whatsoever.
'Nothing ventured, nothing gained' I spent this morning fitting a blank (I opted to fit the 18mm one first and will gradually reduce in size if I don't experience any problems!) Robo was on hand to advise as I had difficulty with the studs (came out with a little persuasion) and replaced 'em with the bolts supplied.....

Thanks Robo for supplying a good quality kit and excellent advice to a nagging southerner on the dog and bone....K9's got an EGR blank and if a MIL light appears 5 others to try in lieu. One upwards to 20mm and four smaller. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Yep got mine today from Robofarmer...top quality ....will be fitting in a few days as still a little shaky from my trip to K9 neck of the woods....not too sure how many cases of beer we got through but i know the girls done 8 litres of wine in one sitting Whistle NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY
