England 2014 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 SW Alpine White
I enquired about a new custom build MY14 110 back in mid November and took delivery 2nd week of Jan, it was delivered to the stealers over Christmas. The sales manager had a free build slot mid December and this closed the deal. All done by email, only went to the show room when it was time to collect.
I don't worry abiout reg dates, I find used Defenders are not traded like normal cars their value is seasonal.
If you look after a new one then it is one of the most cost effective vehicles to run, particluarly for business.

It may leak a bit, drop the odd bit of oil from a seal etc. it is, after all a working vehicle. The warranty is very good so it's not a problem.

FYI, you can get 7 days free insurance from LR on a new one.

Enjoy your new toys Very Happy Paul

Argh! You've just mentioned the dreaded Land Rover 7 day free insurance.

Ever heard the phrase "No such thing as a free lunch"! I was seduced by the offer and it turned into a data gathering exercise with a mountain of questions from a bloke in an office who didn't actually know what a Defender was. His Land Rover product knowledge was awful and then he tried to get me a deal on an annual policy at a price that made my eyes water.

At the end of the day it served a purpose in allowing the dealer to register and release the vehicle - but it is really all about gathering your personal data for updating the Big Brother computer database

Picked the new Defender up yesterday from Guy Salmon in Knutsford. They got me sorted out very quickly and efficiently... I never even had chance to grab a coffee and doughnut!

Very happy with the spec I went for. It feels HUGE compared to my Jimny, and difficult to manoeuvre, but I'm sure I'll get used to it!

It'll be making a trip to CSK mid week for a full Dinitrol treatment.

Here are a couple if pics to keep you guys happy.

@ couplands - in short yes! After initial dealings with my local Stratstone went sour, I simply sent emails to local dealers, Knutsford being the furthest away at 60 mile. They came back with great discount so I visited and ordered in December.

Some dealers replied simply asking me to visit the dealership, these were not even considered.

All in all a great service, and I will certainly buy from them again if the offer is good!

I need to remove that sticker in the rear window though... Yuck!

Thumbs Up I did the same buying my new defender, told them what I want, what I had in by email, and awaiting the best offer from about 30 dealerships . Then I did the same px'ing my defender for the D4. Hassle free and I found it quicker to get what I want at the right price. Both occasions it was Guy Salomon whom came trumps.

^^^^^ this day and age it should be standard practice!
Any dealers who refused to talk money, lost a very easy sale. I was buying one at screen price, so getting a great deal made it a bit sweeter.

I dropped the truck off with Chris at CSK yesterday morning for a full stage 3 dinitrol treatment should be collecting later today!

Will hopefully get some better pics soon, the last week has been a bit hectic!

The 7 day insurance may be a pain and a data gathering exercise but it does also entitle you to excess protect where should anything happen to your pride and joy and it need repairing most insurance companies will charge a premium to have it repaired at a Land Rover approved repair centre due to having to use genuine parts/techniques etc.

The excess protect covers up to £250 premium that your insurers may charge to have it done at an approved centre. Worth having as it's free even if you have to answer a load of questions, they only take 5 mins. Thumbs Up

Here it is at CSK last Wednesday for a Dinitrol treatment

Cheers Chris!

Washed, and then got the Autoglym resin polish out, followed by the new pot of Autoglym HD wax... Which I was very pleased with how easy it all went on.

Wheels have also been off, washed thoroughly, any underseal removed and then rinsed. Followed by a couple of coats of resin polish and then 2 coats of poor boys wheel sealant

So after a full Dinitrol & ACF50 treatment, i took it out for a drive to Church Stretton and the Long Mynd.

I have changed a few fasteners to non painted stainless as i prefer the look. Factory fit fasteners holding the the light surrounds, lamps, and wing top grills were already stainless but painted black. I have also fitted a set of Gwyn Lewis front arch 'Mud Shields'. Simple but should protect the underside.

The girlfriend wanted to take a few photos of it as well while we were up the Long Mynd; mainly for one of her uni projects, but also to stick up on here!

Struggled a little bit driving up the 30% gradient as you really had to rev it to allow for a gear change, but other than that i was very happy with the way it handled the lanes.

Here is some Defender porn for you guys...
