K9F,

Not sure if I've made this public before. I'm employed by LR as part of an experimental PR exercise which they are looking to patent.

the idea being I roll up on these forums with no end of woes, making it very clear how frustrated I am, doom gloom and the works. the idea being >95% of all customers with problems will then hopefully think 'its alright really, its nothing compared to that other bloke' Thumbs Up

any how...I'm setting my standard rather a lot higher than a purring cat. I'm trying to get the damn thing to purr like a furbie Rolling with laughter

any how I hope you're keeping well and work is steady and bearable? Thumbs Up

Caterham nice to see you still have a sense of humour and I for one am glad you've stuck with it. Thumbs Up

In the overall scheme of life and a quick tap of my 'Caterhamommeter' reveals the needle is in fact heading away from 'Engine Replacement Required Imminently' and heading towards 'I'm sure something's amiss, better replace a few items Justin! ......Just in case!'

Hope your worries are little ones and with regards to the PR exercise it's working a treat! Not sure how much LR are paying you but ask for a rise....you deserve it!

Rolling with laughter

I glad you're enjoying the 'show'....

I won't bore with the worries that came into my head last night......I'd only scare myself witless again.

but yes really I'm happy things are very nearly very good. as said before the engine is running a treat most of the time now and my thinking is the egr has gotten sutted up loads in the year days / years from running the engine very slowly due to the mechanical issues. now the mechanical issues are sorted its obvious (to me) there's something else not right from time to time. once i pull my finger out and fit the egr blank it'll be interesting to see whats what.

I'm still concerned there a poor elec connection under the bonnet but hay ho .... for now I'm concentrating on th egr.

have a good day. Thumbs Up

So new turbo fitted and mechanically I think we're all sorted....the spindle on the old unit was 'loose '! So although I would not have been too surprised to find the turbo was all full of soot as suggested by many it would appear that I had a faulty turbo all along.

Only problem being the bulkhead has less paint than before Big Cry

...

Should I be surprised that the following have all been replaced on one car;
Ecu
Seats
Wiper motor / switch
X1 door
X2 door solenoids
X2 bumpers
X1 propshaft
Gearbox
Input shaft to gearbox
Turbo
X3 gearbox seals
Carpets
Tow electrics
Plus the usual corrosion, poor body alignment and leaks
?

Very Happy

Hope u r well Steve.

Given it some welly today with its new turbo. It's never been over 1750 rpm so many times in one day.

I jest...rev counter is whizzing to 2.5 - 3k regular Thumbs Up

Not wanting to say too much but my poor luck continues.....fixed turbo but left me with a bunch of scratches on bulk head.

If I may ask Caterham purely out of nosiness from me, what caused it to need a new door? seems a strange part among your list!

By the way you have made me feel very lucky about all the land rovers Ive had so far even my series, so for that thank you and your money is being truly earnt by land rover Laughing

Thumbs Up Tom Defender puma dormobile camper

The door had too many bananas in the mix when they made it and as such was bent to the point where the the rubber seal for window had a gap between it and the door skin.

I know this seems ridiculous but i'm sure that the rattles I've experienced were clutch related. ..... but is it possible that when I lube the clutch pedal which is stiff that this reduces the rattle / eliminates it?

It certainly seems to be linked or could just be coincidence......seems to have happened several times though??

4k rpm several times yesterday - sweet as a nut a some squash qi was struggling to keep up.

Not knowing how these things work there seems to be a link to the tbox / cdl / clutch in terms of rattles?

Stalled inn2nd the other day and for a while after that 1st gear was amazingly smooth / no hint of a rattle?

just by way of an update that might just help those with rattles.

would appear some of my issues were related to a dodgy ball joint on the steering rod.....the last rattle I have appears to relate to the clutch plate and suspect its the springs. this shows not just in rattles but also intermittent harsh gear changes which I believe / hope is a result of springs sticking and hence no play in clutch when changing gears.
Operation have been booked but awaiting a date.

good luck in solving your rattles Thumbs Up

I can hardly believe this. After checking several times and having replaced the fuel filter several times myself it turn out to fuel filter wasn't fitted properly!?

I decided the other night get both hands on the filter to see if it would possibly tighten anymore....and it did! About another 1/4 turn!!
