Alcantara alternative
I'm looking to re-cover a 2000 90 headlining that has got really grubby and had some sags. The liner is sound the material covering it is not. I've seen advice on recovering technique, but mostly with fuzzy felt type material. Alcantara is painfully expensive, does anyone have ideas for an alternative that can conform and be stretched about a bit to re-cover a head liner?

Yobbie, that's exactly the look I'm after. Was that glued on to the headliner or did they do it some other way? It looks really smooth.
Do you find people -children and childish- leaving messages in the material now? Wink
Rich, thanks for the contact details.
The guy who did the refurb on my 90 did such a good job that I think it deserves the hard top doing properly.

Word of advice, get it done professionally as the whole trick is in the way it is attached/glue. I used the fake alcantara on the door cars and they look OK for a couple of months and then the glue started to lift..... ended up redoing it in a fake leather

That's a really nice finish.
Funnily enough I'm watching some material very similar to that on the bay of E...I thought it would make nice door card covering. The farm run (similar to the school run but horses not kids) is grotty at this time of year and wipe clean is definitely the way forward.
I'm planning to use adhesive panel dampening on the roof and then some closed cell foam to insulate to hopefully prevent 'the drip' and won't get the headlining trimmed till then I think.

Headlinings
I use Technosuede for re-lining headlinings.
To recover the front, rear and top rear door sections of a 90 would cost £300 plus postage and VAT.

I don't know how it was done I guess it was glued, these are the door tops they had a thin layer of foam put under them to make it more comfortable
