Hello all
I purchased an Defender 110 TD5 CSW Must be one of the very first TD5's being an 1998 S reg! Its immaculate for its 155k miles! Engine bays clean as an whistle, not an speck of mud anywhere on its solid chassis with what seems to be original factory coating, Surprisenly for an company land rover the panels are all more or less straight! Only an minor dent on an front wing and rear wing where the fog light got smashed. Only issues being an solidly stuck clutch pedal and an fist sized hole in the rear crossmember and an bloody good clean as the headlining and seats and dash all have mould on! It was owned by an charity from new so only 1 owner and a folder of history. My plans are to get it cleaned, remove the roof bars, fix the minor problems and change the rims and tyres for wolf rims and better tyres. thats about it really and ill probably end up selling it in the spring but for now its an nice little project Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) 2015 Discovery 4.5 Black pack Firenze red XS 2008 Corris Grey 110 XS USW (sold) 2011 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) Last edited by Welshsurferdude on 26th Apr 2014 12:34pm. On the other hand, it's nice to see bargains to be had. There are the hidden factors like tax and MoT, to number crunchers who are selling they're looking at a 14 year old motor and are probably not quite aware of how much people are prepared to pay.
If you're going to sell it on you'll probably be better off keeping it close to standard, clean it up, give it a good service, make sure things like wheel bearings, UJ joints are all good and put it on fleabay. Let the new owner personalise it at their expense as whatever you add to it will not greatly influence a higher price. You sell them the car then you can sell them your lights seperately and not give them away if you bolt them on prior to sale! |

Agreed g mack steal of the century!
There is an mot and some tax, was being used until two weeks ago. Not fitting any of my lights to it don't worry I am keeping it standard with an full service/ new clutch, pro valet and polish and new wolf rims/tyres and that'll be it, nice clean standard 110. 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) 2015 Discovery 4.5 Black pack Firenze red XS 2008 Corris Grey 110 XS USW (sold) 2011 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) |

Well done! Their loss is obviously your gain. They plainly were not aware of 'true worth.'

Thank you all!
I do love buying defenders from companies that are ignorant to what their value is and not bothering to check. Then again they did have it from new and just wanted it gone as they had brand new transporters 13 platers and wanted the space back. I have already removed and sold the roof bars and rear ladder for £40 so thats my beer money for the rugby at the pub later sorted! I checked the reservoir for the clutch fluid and its an bit low so I now suspect the clutch fork is broken. I have an mate who is an HGV mechanic with an mobile van and crane who's coming over tomorrow morning to split it and see what the cause is, then get the parts required. Should only cost an few beer tokens and an £20 part for an HD clutch fork hopefully. I am thinking of ordering an black sheep off road rear cross member that looks standard but folded with 6mm steel with no mud traps, £70+vat is the price on their website which seems rather reasonable. Just discovered rear door is completely rotten around rear wiper motor so thats an door on the list now! Im keeping it standard as possible. Will post up pictures once its had an professional in and out valet on an sunny day. 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) 2015 Discovery 4.5 Black pack Firenze red XS 2008 Corris Grey 110 XS USW (sold) 2011 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) Last edited by Welshsurferdude on 26th Apr 2014 12:34pm. Let's just hope that some poor individual in a wattle and daub hut with a thatched roof somewhere doesn't go without due to your fortune perhaps?
