Mike Where the dash plastic trim finishes in the footwell you will find a metal channel about 1/2" wide. From outside the vehicle you can look along it if you crouch down. Mine was solid rust at the end nearest the passenger door. You can run your fingers along the channel and that should give you some idea as to condition. Bob |

Just checked ours. Never noticed any drops into either of the footwells. When I knelt down and looked underneath the dash I noticed some brown where the rubber insulation sits on the two extensions. On the one nearest the door on both sides there is brown where the rubber sits on the holding extension. It can be rubbed off so it is not extensive but I will show it to the dealer at the next service in May or June. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Would'nt you hate to be different! Imagine if your Defender did not do this. Think how high your insurance premium would be. Your insurance company would load it on for having such a unique vehicle. Think of the security measures you would need to go to to keep it safe. Maybe we are better off as we are. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

What annoys me about all this is that Land Rover have a "water ingress manual". If they know where the water gets in, why not fix it before it leaves Solihull???

[q
uote="Grockle"]indeed Spud .hows the Emerald isle today[/quote] Sunny. Indeed it is such a nice day that I did the unspeakable. Yes not only did I wash ZULU (our Puma), but I waxed her as well. I know that this is a crime of the most heinous type in the eyes of all here, but I found that it is better to own up about these things rather than try to hide them. But I did not think of Pamela Anderson while I was polishing up those nice, solid, rolling, firm curves on the front wings. God forbid that our friends on the AULRO.COM should learn of this crime. Then again maybe it was time they learned of these hidden pleasures, I might not be alone. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

So far so good Yeovil LR did an excellent job treating the rust and painting the channels, in fact the whole job was done very well. The new foam seal appears to be lot more substantial than the original - maybe it has been upgraded somehow. Bob |
