Hella Comet 550 fogs. Cost not more than about $100 a pair. 55W halogen, perfect wide light spread and a classic look. Exist in white or yellow.

So you mounted a bull bar and steering protection.
Weird placing of those fog lights though... Would 've been safer on top of the bumper or underneath the hirizontal part of the bull var (if possible). Why that location? |

It is the most efficient place for fog lights, i.e. low mounted and close to the sides of the truck. Look at 90% of the cars on the road with fog lights, and they will be in similar location as mine. Now, mine still are mounted pretty high off the ground, so unlikely to ever touch anything at all. You have to realize that this SVX is not an extreme off road truck, actually not an off road truck at all.
Auxiliary lamps at the underside of the soft A-bar are ok, actually perfect place for spots. That is really not the right place to put fog lights though, too high up, and too close to the center of the truck. The steering protection came as standard with the SVX. Thanks for the tips so far. Love the Dually lights, really don't love the price (unless I've read it wrong!). Also reluctant to swap my bumper over, all that money (when I've earned it) is earmarked for a Blackvue or something similar. I think the under-the-bumper position is the way forward. ---

Hi Ericvv,
A resurrection if I may. I've now got the Speaker headlights I see on your truck and I bought, some time ago, but not yet fitted the Hella fog lamps. Do the Speakers render the fogs redundant or are they still worth putting on, in your view? Thanks Simon. 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop Now a 2013 110 USW too. |

Simon, still worth putting on. While the Speakers give a nice wide light spread already, my Hella fogs simply give an extra coverage at an even much wider angle at both sides of the truck and this for the first 3 or 4 meters starting from the bumper. That is exactly what good fogs are supposed to do. On twisty roads, these fogs are still a great addition to light up the closeby sides of the road, especially handy in turns.
Keep us posted of how you like them in case you install them. Eric You never actually own a Defender.
