quick daft? question about intercooler hoses
1995 300TDI
got a bit of white smoke from the old fender, so starting to check over basics first. whilst checking turbo hoses, the top one feels nice and firm but the bottom one is really soft! very very easy to squeeze together, is this normal? or is this known as a delaminated hose?
cheers My 109 thread

My TD5 had soft hoses to the intercooler. I put this down to age and general degradation of the hoses so swapped them for new silicone ones 1999 Defender TD5 110

On a related note, if you're going to the trouble of changing hoses then it'd be an ideal time to clean out the interooler too - a very worthwhile bit of maintenance in terms of performance and efficiency.

There's a write-up about it HERE. It's about a 300tdi Discovery but the principle is exactly the same. Darren

When do yo get white smoke?

More likely the timing is out slightly...
