Interesting the OP two years 8 months and 85,000km after injector change posted....

I do not think you need to worry - my injectors was changed at 45.000 km… now it is on 130.000 km. Think i noticed a faint knocking again for the last 5.000 km - but only when cold - thought nothing of it - until now Big Cry

Is it cylinder 3 that is now holed the same as the original injector failure?

Originally the vehicle had stood still for two years...

As my car has only been driven 4.000 km the past two years in a forest in Poland, I was told that it was a mixture of poor diesel and short runs at low revs that must have caused it. The problem appeared about 5 days after I started driving the car about 300 km every day - with trailer.

and then....

Actually the trouble started 3 days after the Belladd 1D+ treatment - recommended by Ford...regards

Read into this what you will but there seems to be a lot of unusual circumstances?

Red-Dot also posted....

I called LRCS today and after an hour they answered and the call centre proffesional indicated all have been done that were in the affected builds.

Is there something to worry about or not? Hope Caterham doesn't notice this thread..... Whistle If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Yes but before this thread I hadn't heard of it? I must have missed the previous one. Are we talking lots of Defender engines or ford engines fitted with Denso injectors?

The two that are documented here with the extenuating circumstances of one of them and the higher mileage of the two doesn't seem like 'lots' to me.

What is reassuring is Dgardel's and Red Dot's posts but still doesn't answer my question?

Is it or is it noth worth spending time worrying about this issue and can you identify a Denso injector easily? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

think your find the problem is more what emission level your engine is ... later dpf will have finer holes for better spray patterns .

I edited my last post because I got it wrong

think the 2.4 has denso injectors

but we do injectors on mercs , Renaults , peugoets , fords, all makes they all get problems just luck of the draw really

seen transits come in with filters completely full of dirty water from filling from cans . and you change the filter drain the tank fresh diesel and off they go. cant remember one coming back in while later with problems but they are the kind of people who change vehicles quite often.

BUT to avoid engine damage have it looked at when problem running starts not when it wont move anymore!

sorry if you went and looked because of my post about what different injector look like I got that bit wrong. denso and bosch don't look much different , denso have a bit more rounded top to the solenoid than bosch and return pipe is clipped to top diffirently . bosch have what looks like a r clip in from the side holding return pipe . denso have a flat looking clip.

sure 2.4 pumas got denso

if you search on ebay for defender injector you can get pic of what they look like

Apology not needed I didn't! It's raining and on reflection I don't think I'll bother.....

Good advice though Munch thank you. I think I may be beginning to exibit Caterham like traits. I have a reliable 90 that has given me no real issues mechanically in nearly 6 years of ownership, I do drive it quite hard too. No transmission or clutch issues we hear about so often. I also use Millers on every fill up. Think my worry was a 'momentary wobble.' Will increase my medication and bear in mind your advice and address any issues the moment any symptoms appear.
