The reason I ask is that when I plug my nanocom in its saying that the clutch is engaged tried to disconnect the switch still the same also tried to bridge switch the switch out still no change. That got me wondering if the low/high range switch had anything to do with it.

I thought cruise only worked above a certain speed like 40kph or something like that so would be flat out in low box

Don't know about the add-on kits sold for Puma/Tdci engines but the Td5 requires a minimum speed of 45kph. Peter,

To be honest as I don't have cruise control fitted I didn't consider the need for a minimum speed for the cruise control to work. All I see is the circuits it interacts with and based on them assumed it didn't matter if you where in low box or not! Everyday is a school day

Hello
Could I ask who does a good cruise control kit for puma tdci 2.4 as had it on last car and was really handy when your faced with average speed cameras another thing to add to the list ..... |

Lorry man I can see what you are saying looking at the circuits. It don't show you what happens in the ECU that's why I was wondering if it affected the system with the range in low (more hoping that was why our ecu was saying low range activated).

As someone who drives daily in a vehicle with cruise control on roads with average speed cameras - I wouldn't bother installing it on your Defender - unless you are regularly driving on clear roads. Driver behaviour on roads with average speed cameras is often so erratic that you are constantly having to vary your speed, brake and accelerate rather than being able to settle down and maintain progress at a steady speed. I absolutely love cruise control on empty motorways very early in the morning but personally there are other Defender accessories I'd rather spend my cash on. I'll soon be setting off up Scotland's 'killer road' (A9) which is due to be fitted with average speed cameras - this is another badly designed road where cruise control is made redundant during the working day. |

That's the problem I do drive regularly on clear roads mostly at night as here in Leicester the so called Safety camera team lurk under two bridges, and in two laybys on my way home from work. Its only a problem as they use un marked transits and hide themselves very well...
In the day time people flash on coming traffic to let you know or you guess by the sudden flash of brakes at the brow of the hill.... So far no points yet and would like to keep it that way |

I thought you were referring to the overhead installed average speed cameras installed over several miles of a road ...... not the 'revenue man in a van' skulking with a point and shoot camera. Either way, as you are mainly driving at night on clear and uncongested roads I can see the advantages of setting the cruise control at say the 'max road speed minus 1 mph' and then drifting past the hidden, unmarked transit van fully concentrating on road safety matters.
