Carried out some prep work before my 600 mile trip to visit the parents in Gloucestershire later in the week. Washed the outside, topped up oil, water, screenwash etc. Attached my new phone mount on the dash. Just got to check the tyre pressures next time I'm passing a petrol station. 2007 (57) Defender 90 (Sold)
Looking for another to replace it. The road less travelled.... is a muddy one! |

Still continuing to change out bolts and screws for SS versions.
Made a cock up today though and by sheer miracle issues were avoided! I changed my heater intake screws on the wing and the blank screws too on the other side. Of course I take out the factory screws from each side and put the on the top on my CP wing tops, and then replace them with SS screws. Of course mugging here forgets he put the original screws there, then popped out with 7 screws placed on each wing without noticing! Anyway finally noticed when I got to my destination about 2 and a half miles away round the lanes, and by sheer miracle they were all still where I put them! 7 on each side. Shall have to try and avoid doing that ever again all the same. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

Roma - are we to take it that the Mud Demisters are in the same league as a chocolate fireguard? Or are they the before shots and after are yet to follow?

Did you put the holes where they tell you to in the instructions? Mine work well but only with the fan on full. Pete. |

Tracked down the mysterious hissing sound that appeared Christmas day after going through a few big puddles in the red 90.
Turbo hose clip was undone and one of the bigger bow waves must have dislodged the turbo pipe. Alex, considering the windows were covered in ice this morning they were doing a good job in defrosting. A bit pointless taking a photograph after the event !!
Pete, The holes are as instructions. The reason why they seem to work only on full speed is because there is such a large difference in blow between that and no.1. The side windows eventually demist with the windscreen vents , but these extras at the side just help to clear the front of the window, where normally only a cold draught appears from gaps in door seals ! |

Looking at the above picture and the wiper pattern I am guessing that you will need to replace the wiper spindles soon unless you pull back the spindle rubbers and apply copious amounts of grease before reseating the rubbers. Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

Trundled over to the ford at Little Paxton near St Neots. Road closed due to flood so had to walk down to the ford to take a photo.
River was less than 1 foot deep was still very fast flowing so I can understand why it was closed after the last batch of rain. 1970 Series 2A 88" |

Missing mine. Lots. It hasn't even left the country yet. Somwhere in Suffolk awaiting loading.
Oh well, 8 weeks and I'll see it again, hopefully in bright sunshine and about 20 degrees hotter than it is here! Our blog - http://landytravels.com/ Yorkshire Off Road Club - http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net |

Fitted door stay from Mudstuff, dynamat to side panels before the TGE internal protection. Plus a 12v aux socket and wound down the bolt stops on the steering. Thanks to forum members for tips on aux socket and bump stops made a big difference on turning circle.

Well, that was part of the problem ! Hiss had diminished but was still evident. Difficult to work out if it was actually hissing or a very light rattle. Bonnet up and everything checked and nothing appeared loose. Ran the engine and there was a distinct exhaust gas smell in the engine bay. Checked the exhaust and it seemed fine. Started the engine again and I could hear a light tinkling sound above the cat on the drivers side. The culprit was then found. The pre cat temp sensor had fallen out and the retaining nut was rattling against the heat shield. The exhaust smell came from the hole where the sensor should have been. Looking at the retaining nut it looks like it may never have been done up fully. Wrestled the heat shield off and put the sensor back in. The loose sensor may have been responsible for another problem since new, occasional lack of all power when pulling away first thing in the morning ? After a test drive I can say it drives much better. I will get it into the dealers in the New Year as the sensor did not look healthy and I am sure there are some fault codes logged that will need clearing.
