Removeable & cleanable noise muffling
Which is the best noise muffling to buy that can be removed & cleaned/allow the bare metal under to be cleaned?

Obviously sticky back stuff is not a consideration here. What I want is an additional muffle layer for under the OE carpets, to reduce road & transmission noise. (Bags of compost peat & bales of hay are effective in the rear load area, but not in the cockpit!) Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

I want a vehicle that can be hosed out & if necessary disinfected (being careful of sensitive areas naturally). So removeable everything, including sound proofing. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Some parts of the Noise killer kits are removable.

Front Floors (NoiseKiller Sound Barrier)
Under Seats (NoiseKiller Sound Barrier)
Rear Floor/Load Space (NoiseKiller Sound Barrier)

You could try fitting the adhesive parts in reverse so they stick to the carpet instead of the bodywork; for example the part designed to fit the nearside wheel arch would fit to the carpet on the offside. That way the sound proofing will come out with the carpets.

Some pictures of the rear tub kit halfway down this page: http://defender90xs.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06...r-tub.html http://defender90xs.blogspot.co.uk/

I've got a mixture of Noisekiller and Dynamat (flexible metal sheet with strong adhesive backing) but the NK pads mean the rubber cab floor matting doesn't sit very well after installing.

Dynamat is much better and it is so sticky Im pretty sure you could still hose it out. Search a few photos on here to see what I mean. Ive probably got a little Dynamat offcut if you wanted me to post it to you to try it.. 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop
Now a 2013 110 USW too.

Don't go near noise killer kit if you want hose out. Holds so much water that it's permantly wet. Dynamat for me.
