I had the same and at the end I replace egr valve, turbo actutor harness (that was broken) and turbocharger (because actuator was gone). Now my Def is better than new. Note that egr valve and turbocharger are different than the original and harness was been modified according to a technical bullettin. They are improving defender with our money! Would be interested to hear if you get to the bottom of this - I had a similar problem with a VW Passat recently, switched off then on and all fine - ran fine for next two thousand miles. It's just started again, wondered if it was weather related. |

Unplug the accelerator pedal multiplug and coat with electrical contact cleaner. The area around the plug can get wet causing mineral contamination of the plug pins. Also when you are there check the condition of the harness.

Right update.
No mil on and no codes on SDD or Snapon micro scanner. Historic fault noted on SDD @456 miles that was on the second day from new. Ran through an air passage flow test on EGR and Turbo,nothing conclusive. LR tech bulliten recommends replacing actuator arm(only costs a few quid so worth a try). As problem has only happened once,I think I will just drive it on and see what happens. Thanks for your replies. Is the raddiator low on water?
And was the engine almost overheating? In that case the ECU is taking the power down and no fault being logged in the ECU. In other cases (like the throttle) I would expect a fault in the ECU. No over heating probs and no coolant losses and no fault codes logged.
Its done it another 4 times on a recent 1.4k trip to Scotland. Only way to correct is to pull over and switch off ingnition turn straight back on and away you go. I can now do this on the move it saves pulling over. Volume Control Valve on fuel pump malfunctioning or sticking perhaps. Very similar to some of the symptoms I had, and generally won't raise a DTC.
