Simple question for someone who knows the answer!
Does a Puma use MS-CAN bus for any modules or is it just HS-CAN bus? The only reason I ask is that a lot of Ford vehicles do and as it's got a Ford lump, I'm unsure if it actually uses Ford based CAN bus technologies or whether LR have their own? Just High-speed CAN between engine ECU, instrument pack (and diagnostic socket) - at 2010MY anyway. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

That's what I thought. The reason I ask is that Scantool have launched a "budget" version of their epic OBDLink MX, which is called the OBDLink LX http://www.scantool.net/obdlink-lx.html The difference being that they've dropped the GM and Ford MS-CAN capabilities. I've been wanting an OBDLink MX for ages, but the cost put me off. I should have an LX version by the end of the week which means Torque Pro (Android OBD2 app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details...;hl=en_GB) is now a much cheaper option. It could indeed finally be a better option than Scangauge. I'll report back when I get it all set up. Craig Rogers 2007 Puma 110 XS 2011 Evoque Coupe Dynamic Lux www.craigrogers.photography |

Interesting story.........
I have an Ebay alert configured for OBDLink MX. Imagine my surprise when one came up for around £85. So I bought it. The seller is ndds-uk which is North Down Diagnostics which is also Scantool-direct. Anyway, I was then contacted to say that the MX was the last in stock and the box was damaged and so was the reader so he offered me a refund and discount off the LX. I didn't realise that the LX existed and seems quite new so had to wait a few days before one came in stock. It has now arrived and is on its way in the post. EDIT: Here it is on the Scantool-Direct website - http://www.scantool-direct.co.uk/obdlink-l...-290-p.asp Craig Rogers 2007 Puma 110 XS 2011 Evoque Coupe Dynamic Lux www.craigrogers.photography |
