Far too much water for condensation and only happens after a downpour when stationary.

As for the internal gutter dripping water - this has been a feature (or issue) of defenders since the dawn of time. The water most of the time is condensation apparently

if thats the case then a small person could drowned and be seen floating just above window level,in fact I think the 107" in Chaucers, 'A Canterbury Tale' leaked in that very place Mike 2.4 90 XS

The V8 always used to do it...it used to be a joke about getting wetter on the inside 90/110/defender drivers used to make, im surprised no one remembers Exclamation

There could have been other leak causes, but its a problem thats been around for the last 20yrs - almost as long as the water ingress pdf Rolling with laughter Mike

Mine leaked like a sieve since new and the passenger footwell still leaks... My suppliers bodyshop manager quoted that the worst thing LR ever did was put carpets in the Defender as water used to leaked out as fast as it came in... Emm, No, not on a £25,000 car? 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

You can see their point though (price aside). I can't really take mine wading because it'll leak (as they all do) and I'll then spend 2 weeks trying to dry the carpets out Big Cry

Obviously for what I use it for, carpets, soundproofing etc and more important but I am slightly handcuffed in what I can really do with it as a result. Thumbs Up One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

I don't want to panic you but ...........

Mine went in on Monday to have the heater box sealed should have been back today. The dealer was worried that the foam seal under the windscreen was shot but we could not get water to come into the cab via that route so everybody concluded the heater box needed to come out and be resealed.

I phoned this afternoon and I now have a topless double cab Shocked

On Monday I pointed out that the small gutter under the trim was rusty on the passenger side. When they took the dash out to fix a wiper problem they found a lot of corrosion/rust that needed to be repaired behind the dash. When the vehicle went to the body shop they found that water was pouring through the foam seal under the windscreen under certain conditions. They took it upon themselves to remove the roof and fix the problem. If it is not back by Friday I will be offroading at the weekend in the dealers nice shiny new demonstrator - it won't be shiney for long Laughing

This is the second or third Defender that they have had the same problem with so it may be a common problem. Yeovil LR are now of the opinion that defenders should not leak into the footwells so try their utmost to rectify the problems correctly.

You have been warned !

Bob

Mine does not leak all the time. For the first six months there was never any sign of water then just after christmas it started to leak and then stopped again in february.

It only ever leaks when the vehicle has been parked and there has been heavy, constant rain. The dealers theory is that the rain cascades out of the gutter under the screen and wicks into the foam seal, probably where the false screen hinges are, and depending on the amount of rain fall the water leaks inside or not as the case may be.

I have a similar problem, with some heavy rust evident in a supporting channel for the dashboard, visible from the passenger footwell area. My concern is, how much more rust is there behind the dash, or anywhere else for that matter, thats going to rear it's ugly head after the warranty has expired!!! Please, none of the "it's a Land Rover, what do you expect comments", thats not the point. They are new vehicles that we have all paid good money for.

Although mine was the air box, i had a quick look and couldnt see anything.

Are there any good areas to review without removing the dash?

I looked around the dash down (behind soundproofing and caprets) Mike
