Anyone installed/got something like this ? Do they put the thieving Feckers off at all ?

My money is on you waking up with the post flat and a pile of rubble behind it. A Landy will barely notice that in its path as underneath your driveway is simply made up hardcore. A quality steering lock takes longer to get off. Deterring criminals is all about delaying them. Either method requires the vehicle to be started....after that....what takes longer....driving over a bollard takes two seconds... removing a good steering lock can take ten minutes. Some of them come with an audible alarm which in the confines of a car is painful...if that dont send em running its lkely to wake half the street up!

Could not disagree more. Every car thief knows how to get off all the locks made, and in much less than 10 mins, but a post set in to concrete is a different matter. Your house is only on a bed of concrete, called foundations.
A post in front of the vehicle then makes the thief have go get past all the norm security, (alarms, steering locks, gear stick locks, and all others) you can't get past a security post quietly, and it's one of the few methods that stop it being dragged/towed away. If so pointless why do so many main dealers rely on them? I have driven into mine, and I certainly noticed its presence. I only wish I could always park with it in front of mine. Andy |

I guess the point jonno is trying to make is it depends on how big the lump of concrete the post is in, if its relatively small, the hardcore/rubble/soil around it will just give way? Maybe/possibly JD 2008 TDCi 2.4 XS CSW |

Yes I understand that but it still relies on the thief entering the vehicle, starting it, steering it, and not being noticed, before smashing into the post, making quite some noise, possibly damaging steering parts, sump, diff's etc. why would a thief try to get past all unknown security, before, trying their luck against something as visible as a post? A post that you have dug into your drive must indicate you have done other measures to increase security. All items built rely on their fixing.

No not yet Chris. But it normally takes three goes to get it to fit between post and garage, so a move is required, but not looked forward too, there's a big lump on the bottom of that post.

Not quite as lax as Laurie but whilst I do know that our motors are desirable by lowlife but I do think that there is a touch of hysteria about the security measures that some feel they have to go to. I do realise that location has a great factor but as some will say it doesn't matter where you are you're vulnarable. I know that I am lucky that the village I live in is a fairly tight community where we know most of our neighbours, the crime rate is low but we all look out for each other. That I think is a big factor, being confident in your own surroundings and the ability to "trust" your neighbours.
