Wipac quadoptic are the standard units. I would recommend wipac crystal with osram nightbreakers as a cheap and effective upgrade

Thanks Guys, I am sure the LED's are amazing, but I dont have that sort of budget...unfortunately...
I think it will have to be the Wipac Crystals ones with the Nightbreaker bulbs.... |

I had wipac crystals and night breakers on my 90 before I got the LEDs, they were a huge improvement over standard. Now have the wipacs on my range rover classic so the difference in night driving between the classic and 90 isn't too much

Just found some bulbs 135/90 watt e marked for European road use .. On piaa website
Are higher wattage allowed now as normal bulbs are 55/60 watt They would be no good on standard wiring . But are they for road use in uk ? |

The headlight switch can melt and fail even with standard wattage so I would steer clear of these unless you do the relay mod

I'm not sure the stock LR wiring is upto powering higher wattage bulbs. Though its nothing some relay controlled lamp feeds from the battery couldn't sort. I'm tempted to do this even with the stock wattage bulbs as I'm sure they dim slightly when I run the interior heater fan on 3. oops meant to quote the wattage post , some how I missed 2023 110 P400e |

Yes no good on standard switch or wiring
But are they legal ? Max wattage was 55/60 I thought But the new hid equipped cars are a lot brighter than you can get with 55/60 watt filament so are there new rules ? |

The wipac crystals are so much more optically advanced that they would be an improvement over standard even with the original lamps. Changing the lamps to better quality, equal wattage ones (such as the nightbreakers) gives an improvement again

Under Vehicle Lighting Regulations there is no maximum wattage requirement for headlights. However to be road legal they have to be E marked. Brendan |
