Earthing
I'll start by saying that my electrical knowledge is minimal but I'm determined to carry out the work rather than paying someone. I'm planning on wiring up several accessories through a Mud pod with carling switches. The accessories so far are heated mirrors, rear LED work light, and roof mounted LED amber light bar. A few questions before I get started:

1. The carling switches require an earth from each switch. Rather than running 3 earth e to an earthing point, is there any way to run a single earth cable but split it/ join 3 earth feeds from the back of the switches onto one earth cable which runs to the chassis?

2. Can I follow the same idea when running a feed from the side lights to the switch? Run one feed from the sidelights and split it to all three switches?

3. Is there a guide for how thick an earth wire should be?

Hope somebody can help.

Looking for another to replace it.

For my earth feed I did the same into one switch, out to the next etc. I used 16amp thin wall, because I had it lying around. Same with the side light power feed. 1999 Defender TD5 110

It's just for the switch, the actual accessories have earth cables. For example the rear work light has an earth cable which I'll run from the roof through the inside and attach somewhere at the rear of the vehicle. 2007 (57) Defender 90 (Sold)

I used insulated spade crimp connectors, and then into the first connector I ran the earth wire that goes to earth and added a 2nd cable that goes into the same connector then comes out of that into the 2nd crimp connector and then another cable that goes to the 3rd connector and so on.
So basically, In-Out-In-Out-In etc. until the last earth. Does that make sense? 1999 Defender TD5 110
