I know that the illumination of the td5 dash is absolutely fine, but I thought it could be made to look 'cleaner' so I sourced some LEDs and this is the result, brighter than standard, not too bright but much more modern looking, yet to do the heater control lights and will be dismantling the clock to install brighter LEDs to match the rest of the dash 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Thanks for the nice comments, I got the LEDs from crazyleds.co.uk (no affiliation) I have already had the clock apart to get rid of the orange filter for the needles, just need to get the correct high powered SMD LEDs, excossak do you have any pictures of your dash? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

To do everything but the clock you need 2 x 509t LEDs and 4 x 286 LEDs 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

286-T5-3xPLCC-2 is the type for the fuel temp and heater control illumination, I haven't done my heater controls yet so can't comment on how good that'd be. They do different colours, I went white but green would work if you wanted green needles, Also red would be pretty funky 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I just used white LEDS from Ebay and yes I have done the heater controls. Just need to suss out the clock next as it appears sealed.?
I find the LED's an improvement over the standard bulbs. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

An improvement for sure the clock does come apart! very gently remove the plastic bezel from the front; Then the plastic window. There are two tabs in the threaded section of the body of the clock, bend them back and pull the inner workings of the clock out by the centre of the needles. There sure four LEDs in there all facing the spindle for the needles. I'm going to replace them with brighter ones and see if that does the trick. If not I'll be looking at putting more LEDs in to get it to match
Just had a thought, I have also done my cigar lighter socket 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Excellent - thanks for the heads up. Will have a look at the weekend. I replace my Ciggie socket with a blue sea one and also added a blue sea dual USB socket 1999 Defender TD5 110
