Late post from yesterday !
Picked up 90 from Executive Autocare in Hemel Hempstead - they are a Webasto dealer and were taking a look at the leaking sunroof that was a factory or dealer fit to the XS from the original owner ... Seems it was a bit of a Friday afternoon job - not only did they not fit the proper 'Defender' sunroof from Webasto (they fitted the consumer 100 model) ... the hole they cut in the roof was slightly larger than necessary and they didn't cut the central spar in the right place ... the upshot was that the inner frame of the sunroof wasn't even clamping on the edge of the sheet metal of the roof - so the only seal against water was the rubber edging on top - which over time had failed as it was moving every time the sunroof was opened !! Oh and the main frame gasket was missing ! ... little wonder the headlining was so stained and marked inside (roof side) and we used to catch a cup full of water in the drinks holder in the cubby box every time it rained ! Anyway a great guy that owns the little business - Dave Sweetingham - been fitting sunroofs for many years - so he took the whole lot out, stripped it down, recut the spar and refitted so it seals properly all the way round, de rusted the hinges and adjusted so super-smooth operation now Would recommend paying him a visit if you have a leaky sunroof or fancy having one fitted ... While it was in the workshop for a couple of days I also gelt them to fit some privacy film to the side sliders and rear windows - and very nice job they did of that too Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Last edited by jont on 3rd Nov 2013 10:36pm. Yesterday, took my baby to get a full chassis clean, dry & Dinitroling. Will probably get back on Thursday.
Got a lift home in a RR Vogue. Beeootifful! Such a big windscreen, such a quiet diesel motor! Then (when Brendan gets the Nakatenga headlamp surrounds from Nakatenga I want), I'll start retro-ing baby's "face". Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender |

Did the quarterly maps update for both Garmins of my SVX. The full Europe maps for the original Nüvi 750, and the same plus the North-America/Canada maps update for the Nüvi 770 which I now use most of the time. Took a solid 5 hours to complete these updates. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

(Not today but Thursday) whipped the head off the project90, to get it skimmed and (hopefully) stop the coolant pressurising problem.
Also picked up an NNN flashable ECU so can have some fun once it's all nailed back together. |

Changed the diff oil, front and back. Used my new oil tray from Opie Oils Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

Oddly enough, I removed my 2.4m Howling Moon awning and put it away for winter. At first I thought I wanted the Hannibal item but was pursuaded against it by a story of it cracking a Patriot rack where it mounted. |
