Am I the only one who actually prefer the look of narrower tyres?

No, I like the look off 7.5 x 16 better then the 285's.

I would prefer 235 in a higher size. I have 2 sets on the moment. 1 set almost new G90's and a set half worn 235 x 85 BFG MT's.
Currently I use the G90 7.5 x 16 as the bfg's are still under my Camel. I plan to use my BFG's as the normal tyres and if going off road in a rocky area I will use the G90's. I hate to damage the BFG's Roel

Hi Guys,

Thank you for the responses so far Thumbs Up

I agree I like the look of 235's, not sure more or less than wider tyres!!

Having had a chat about widths - what about types of Muds?

If the tyres are to be used for muddy conditions/ off road sites/ winter laning, am I better to get a set of decent muds BFG/STT or similar or go whole hog with extreme offroad tyres - Fedimas/ insa turbos?

I await your thoughts Confused

BFG all the way

in my opinion if a lane requires Insas to get through it you shouldn't be there. Cheers

Spot on. Well said. Thumbs Up

If you're intending to spend a lot of time at a pay and play then you might get some use out of more extreme tyres but only if you're going big into challenge and winching stuff.

Go for some decent Muds. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

By my rough calcs;

235's have a footprint of 91 sq inches, so say the land rover weighs 2400kg or 5291lbs

then divide by 4 assuming equal weight distribution = 1322lbs so down force = 14.5 lbs/sqin

Using the same rough calc on a 285 = 12 lbs/sqin Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

Basically it shouldn't hurt as much then Willy if you run over my tootsies in 285s in comparison to 235s. It is comforting to know in that event that 2.5lbs/sq in less downward force would be applied....
Let's not test this theory....

No - I do too, but it depends on your Landy.

I'm keeping mine stock and traditional, and I love the look (Keswick Green, white roof & wheels, fold-up side steps etc) so wide-boy tyres would look stupid. 7.5 look right. When I've worn them out I will probably get 235s if they come tall enough.

However, on a heavily modded truck (that looks weighty with racks, cages, winches etc) then I'd go 265 to look in proportion.

Shocked How do 12:50s feature in the overall scheme of things? Shocked Mine are 11:50s but due to the differing offsets look similar to Fekete's who's are in fact 12:50s who obviously has a different offset to everone else in the Northern Hemisphere except Canadians with whom he is connected! Shocked
