One month 1500mile report 110 2.2
I valued those who wrote a run a commentary on the 2.2 before I placed an order. Ours has just done 4 weeks family service and I write this from the middle of the Lake District near Keswick.

We have 265 A/T tyres on Sawtooths. Expedition rack and a few other little mods.

First impressions were less noise than the 2.4 at idle and cruise. The rev hang on gear changing has come with mixed feelings from myself and the wife. She cites the system as a reason for better gear changes for her going up the box. We both agree if you are changing gear and not accelerating after the change so you for example in traffic, change from 1st to 2nd but no throttle post change, its an arse. The revs hold, you bring in the clutch and it jumps forward as the revs have hung. It's exactly the same coming down a hill which is a bit worrying. We are not fans.

The engine is a little peach apart from that. Likes to rev, feels more responsive overall and more bottom end punch. Cruised upto the lakes at 75mph and did 22mpg with 5 up, weeks luggage and 5 bikes on the rack. By my calcs that's 2mpg worse than our 2.4 but that had 20k more miles on it.

Mirror image factory faults fitted to this one like passenger side water leak, a torrent on way up the M6. Looks to be coming from the bottom of the window seal (again) just like our last one. We also have a rear window leak where the seal wasn't fitted properly. More worrying is a loud clunk on changing gear from the rear diff. Started on day of collection and has become louder and louder. So loud now that I checked the rear prop bolts yesterday but found them tight. Too much back lash in the rear diff it seems. And drivers door not shutting without an incredible slam. Other doors close well but this one drops when you open it.

Off to do some local lanes today in the mud and wet. Thumbs Up 1951 80" S1 2.0

Check your door striker for signs of damage (the plastic bit),it may need adjusting slightly.

Door striker is damaged. Do I adjust the striker or the door?

It was in Keswick most of this weekend but not sure if she parked it on Co op or not??

Where are you at? I think I spotted your 90 in the town yesterday. My folks live here and I am up a fair few weeks a year. Have you done the lane U2228 recently? I rode it last year and seemed passable, its the one starts in Latrigg car park?? 1951 80" S1 2.0

i left for newcastle last night, i unfortunately didn't have my car as its with lloyds body shop in carlisle getting corrosion done so was in a farmers special 63 plate 90...

in regards to going up and over there, i think the gate at the far end is locked (don't quote me on this) and with the weather going from latric down would be fine, other way would be a bit tricky

we actually went for a little play up a secret forest road up whinlatter in the hire 90 as its severely overgrown but the 7.5 road tires didn't have enough grip to make the full ascent

my uncle owns whinlatter bikes next to the coop and my best mate who lives between Keswick and durham (with the overfinched 110) both hang out at the shop a lot as we are big bikers so theres often one of our defenders at the coop

if you see the 110, dual cab reg 12 LON take a look at the twin pipes out the back... wow.

Darn,

I should have made contact earlier. Doing as many trails on the MTb as the wifey will let me this week. It's a miserable week for weather even for a Northern monkey like me Laughing

I will ride over Latrigg and check it out. My Dad went over there at the start of the year and found it all open but maybe the farmer has gotten grumpy.

Doors all adjusted now! Shuts like a Benz Whistle 1951 80" S1 2.0

Usually just the striker by a tiny amount, are the body panels lined up ok when the door is shut (they wont be perfect it's a Landrover)you may have to adjust the door, but adjust the striker first and check to make sure the gaps are still ok.
