Sorry to hear about what happened - until I got a Defender and joined this forum I had no idea how many are either stolen or have parts taken off them.
![]() I will get a Disklok in the next week or so, and am trying to way up how far to go with an enhanced alarm and perimeter alarm system. I hope you get your parts back, or at least your insurance company sort out your claim quickly and get you back on the road. |

Don,t let the theiving scum force you out of the car that you choose to own.
Threre,s plenty of threads on here about how to protect your defender and its parts from these parasites. Welcome to the forum and i hope you resolve this temporary blip in your ownership of the worlds most versatile vehicle. Never let the B@r$t@rds get you down. 2005 Td5 90 XS Steve |

Hi thanks for the reply the ironic thing is i work in the Motor Trade but always have a company car and usaully motorbikes and never lost anything before but the landy felt special and i dont know know if I want to keep it.
Now I have done more homework it seems there really isnt much you can do to stop them no matter what you do Ripon L/R said it is a matter of minutes to get my parts off left my new Kenwood/Hertz system though |

Hi byronavitch,I had my previous Defender stolen from my place of work (car sales site) 3 1/2 years ago and seriously considered buying a Land Cruiser to replace it but Mrs Sparts convinced me that i really wanted another Defender which i did (obviously) and have not regreted it one jot but i am a bit more security conscious now. 2005 Td5 90 XS

i think im living less than 10 miles from you, theres a fair few defenders in my village and we so far (fingers crossed) haven't had any stolen defeners / parts luckily mine spends every night in a locked garage with full cctv coverage but on a whole i don't think the north east is too bad yet

They are scum bags!
We as a group of Defender owners need to make sure we are very careful who we buy used defender parts from, to make sure we do our best to discourage these thefts. If the parts seem cheap, or they cannot show where they got them from, we should walk away. If they don't get the buyers, they won't nick them hopefully. I'm thinking about CCTV for the driveway, but not sure what to do about when I'm at work and its in the car park |
