Belgium 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 X-Tech LE Nara Bronze
Rattle when rolling free at low speeds.
Couple of days ago it started.

Symptom:
Rattle in nuetral or with clutch pushed in.
Only at low speeds and when I've driven for quite a while.
Gone when in gear.

Had front propshaft replaced under wareanty but it came back.

Don't think it's the clutch plate or springs. Thought is was a propshaft cross but apparently not.
Doesn't seem to be something critical as I don't feel anything different when driving.

Any ideas?

Since new, so 10 months now. Thought it was transmission brake binding but it wasn't. Goes into dealers in 2 weeks for another look.

Mine did same sort of thing but was the hand brake needing adjustment
Only did it after along journey
Have you tried applying the hand brake a little when coasting ? This stopped mine
Just got it adjusted
Good luck It's good to be back from the dark side

I will try that tomorrow. Just got the bulb in my head lighting up so hope that's it.
Going on a 5 day offroad trip in France so will have plenty of chance to check it.

Find a Land Rover technician who knows what he's doing. Correct handbrake adjustment will sort it, not many can do it properly!!

sounds very like the clutch is rattling due to the shock springs on the clutch plate being broken!

We've had our clutch replaced for sounds like that and a mate has had 3 in 18 months..

I'd go for the clutch!

I'm sure it's not the clutch. Based on what I've heard it most likely is the handbrake.
At least 3 LR technicians looked at it, clutch is a known issue so I'm sure if it was they'd pick up on it.
Even I don't think it is the clutch.

I think the clutch was sorted before 2011, the handbrake certainly was not, mine sorted itself at about 2000 miles OK since DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

When I lived in Doornik, I went to Garage Vanhaesebroucke with my TD5. He's an independent and really knows his stuff.
Not too far from Gent.

Here's their website: http://users.telenet.be/garage.vanhaesebroucke/
Not updated for years, but give them a call.

Had exactly the same issue after 40000km, it was the clutch springs, exchanged under warranty.
