This is an issue we have had though for us it is more important that my old man is able to get in the vehicle and drive as much as anything. When we were still entertaining the idea of a pickup the only one that seemed to be worth a look was the extra cab Isuzu as the tow weight is good and the overall length is the shortest outside a defender. We however decided that even with all the above they're still huge and for us that limits them too much. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Iveco daily 4x4 http://www.iveco.com/uk/Products/Pages/dai...efits.aspx Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

My old 2007 shogun SWB 4work could tow 3000kg. was comfy too, much comfier than a 90. 3.2 diesel was good and torqey too. being the 4work it had no rear seats (but carpet and all the interior trim) so was classed as a van,

shame the timing chain snapped, and wrecked the engine, but I suppose that could happen to any make.

They went downhill with the third gear generation, and are still just as bad... An engine to TDi for!

Just got back from a long drive in the Hi Lux demonstrator. What an uninspiring lazy lump and one gear less than the Defender I'm trying to replace. Glad I'll be back in the Disco tomorrow.

I've got one of these, it's the 2nd one I've had, never had any problems with Shogun's, if you don't need more than 2 seats they're ideal as a commercial. Its' a shame there's not a better choice of commercials out there, I think the manufacturers are missing a major trick.
