Very nice, how do you find the clearance between the key and master light switch? No Guts, No Glory.

That's the one but it's cheap chineese crap.
It does however give you a great base to modify Mine is screwed together but what arrives is a shell to glue |

If that needs glueing together how do you change the battery in it? No Guts, No Glory.

okay the key mentioned above is a cheap key from ebay. It's meant for Freelander so the key blank you get with it is no use.
It's also very cheap, the rubber pads are low quality and your expected to glue it together. The flip mech is also a bit weak. Saying all of the above though it it's a good base. Click image to enlarge So first job was to get a key cut. Then I stripped the plastic tab off, the problem you have is that there is a great big hole where you need metal. So I dropped a blob of weld in the hole Click image to enlarge Then file down to match the Freelander blank so it fits in the key. The rubber pads you get can go straight in the bin and use the ones from you Lucas fob. They are a touch smaller but work well and won't fall out. I've put some axle grease in the flip mech/spring and this has made it much better You're supposed to glue it all together but that's just a dumbass idea so I piloted 2 screw holes and used a couple of small plastic tapping screws. Locations here: Click image to enlarge You'll need to add some ballast for the RHS one. I used the old keys cover superglued into place and the screw goes into that. You'll also need to file away a bit of the lip. The LHS one is recessed and goes into an existing locator lug. Lastly I have to file a touch of metal away as a Defender key is a touch longer. It's a bit of effort but it works well. |
