Remember to check you electrics!
Hello everyone,

I have been trying to resolve a bulb issue where my front side light keeps going out.

I changed the old holder as the contact had died completely with a new one. However I found that the spring had pushed the bulb out of its notch and it had melted the holder and lens Shocked

Contacted the seller who was most apologetic and sent me a new one which I fitted, though the same thing has happened, so a change of supplier is required I think.

Also, while I was hunting down the cause of the dodgy sidelight I checked the fuses and found this:

The last owner put the fuse in for the blower wrong and it must have been arcing ever since I got it Rolling Eyes
Always good to check these things!

Also was very reassured to find my air-conditioning fuse was fitted properly, despite aircon not being a feature on my 110 Thumbs Up

Anyway, moral of the story, check your fuses one in a while Smile[/img]

I've noticed there are some real cheap plastic fuses around, even the legs seem to be made from plastic and just coated in a thin layer of metal.

Checked mine, they do not seem to come from land rover but accessories seem to include these. I never use them, only quality fuses, I'm going to change all/most my fuses to the "trip" fuses ...

I got some lamp units for mine from a supplier and the contacts inside for the bulb were flimsy. It brought up issues which shouldnt have been there as the looms were new. Wasnt happy and replaced with genuine.

Thanks - are the manually trippable ones worth the extra cost?

My side light kept going so I swapped them out for LED RDX side light and tail lights. No problem at all now BM52

At £17:50 inc VAT each I think not. Laughing Ask yourself how many have you had rupture and had to replace? Me none in 5 years.

^^

Good point Steve but hard to justify....even for me! Have got a couple of Releco 12v relays now they are a good investment as they are so versatile with the latching setting and manual operating tab and the indicator! Thumbs Up

That's a fair few fuses to replace on a Puma Shocked Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.

[Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc]
