Like old range rover drop but be worth a furtune 25 years down the line. I mean CSK range rovers go for mega money 15 years ago you could pick one up for next to nothing.

Depends on what the replacement is.
The current defender has a huge fan base and people don't like change. You don't buy a defender to make a statement, you buy it as a lifestyle choice. I don't think the Rangies have that. |

I can't see good Defenders dropping in price to be honest, I think they are so iconic that prices will level off and good ones will become sought after (hopefully!)

Couldn't read anything there....got on to the link, but other screens/articles kept "popping up, so, as I couldn't access anything, so, was there anything "REALLY disclosed" about the "New" Defender?
Cheers, Pickles. |

Just says that defender will look like a land rover. The current one finishes in 2015. There will be a gap in production. The new model won't be too posh.

This jumped out at me:
"Edwards noted that "the Defender is a product that isn't too precious", and that one of the things current owners love is "the ability to hose down the interior". Yet, he also stated that the replacement may be "similar to a premium powertool - it won't necessarily be cheap"." Not sure the current models could be described as cheap but wondering if this also alludes to higher future pricing. Having a gap in production seems sounds like someone really has dropped the ball and they've had to reverse out of a blind alley - desgin or engineering-wise; but it may not mean a lack of vehicles to purchase. They could ramp production up before the end and even pre-register vehicles to beat the EU6 issues. Although I suspect the SVA route would not be on the cards. |
