I have not come across the Truck lite headlights before, but they are tasty... and very cheap to buy in the US, circa $200 each...
http://betterautomotivelighting.files.word...698449.jpg Wonder if they are E-marked... |

They are not E-marked and not suitable for RHD.
They have no positioning light, so they are not recommended for SVX and similar And yes they are cheap but unfortunately cheap made as well, i had them in my hands. WANTED: SII or SIII in max 1.5k |

For Australia the lights would have to meet ADR (Australian Design Rules) requirements
Would E marks satisfy ADR? Have no idea, but am hazarding a guess and say probably yes. Have had a quick look at the Truck Lite specifications for their light. What I noticed is that the Truck Lite website did not appear to give a figure for the light output. This I find odd as the most important information you require for a driving light is light output. What they do state
Now reading US DOT rules does not exactly make exciting reading. However they do give a figure in candela as a minimum and maximum value. Brendan |

But even if they are expensive in price, don't mean you can rely on them being any better in quality California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1 Main Brian James Trailer Dealer for South West UK |

They are E marked according to MudStuff's web site and £595.00 for a pair "EU approved Truck-Lite 7in LED Headlamps" and have front position lamp so OK for SVX http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/trucklite-phase-7-led-headlamps.html |

We know and deal with both Peter at Nakatanenga and Kevin at Mud.
Mud have not had LED headlights on their website for some time now. When Peter made his comment about Truck Lites not being E marked as a commercially available unit that was correct. Mud have only very recently put LED headlights back on their website and I quote
In fact these lights are probably extremely new as I can not find mention of them as E marked on the American or EU version of the Truck Lite website! Maybe I should call in and have a cup of tea with Kevin as he is not a million miles away from us. I do know he has a few new products in the pipeline Brendan |

Seeing as the comment was only made on 20th September, I suspect it's more accurate to say that he assumed he was correct in stating that they are not emarked and not suitable for SVX etc. There are a number of tests of these lights with speaker etc in the US. In almost all the tests the speaker units come out on top for light performance. However, I'm not sure they would recommend selecting them if there was a £/€350 difference as there is here in Europe if you buy a set. As for quality, there is no question that Soeaker use top quality led's, however, as Tim has pointed out having the headlamp unit corrode within 12 months of use in a number of cases, does make you question again whether these are worth a 60% premium if bought in Europe. |
