Maybe I'm missing something here but the hinge bolts are captive and not accessable from the inside. My aftermarket stainless hinges the pin isn't exposed either???? A cheap modification that prevents easy access through the doors to the inside of the truck. Better than doing nothing and scoffing at others ideas perhaps? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

No nuts where the flats round off when you try to undo them are standard fit on defenders!

On all mine the bolts pass through the hinge and the door and are secured by an M8 nut on the inside tucked beneath the door card. Have they changed the design so there is an M8 nut incorporated into the door frame itself now? Obviously on the bulkhead side there are captive fittings there. After-market hinges - fair enough. But on OE ones the pins can be knocked through very easily. Even if it was all infallible it wouldn't prevent access to the inside of the "truck", we all know how poor the door locks are. Failing that they'd just break a window, or pop one out of its seal, and open the door from the inside. I'm not scoffing at anyone's ideas, the more obstacles in their way the better, just highlighting the issues at hand. From my point of view it's not really worth trying to prevent access into the vehicle, you're better off trying to stop them starting/moving it if anything at all. But then I haven't got a new shiny one where the doors are worth more than the rest of the car - finally an advantage to rotten old doors! |

I have embraced the layered approach as much as possible. Door side mine were M8s but are now rivnuts. One of the main reasons for the fitting of Landyglass was to prevent sliding window forcement or popping out the rears. It's down the the individual how much to spend and how much you value your truck. As mentioned doing 'something' is better than doing nowt. Agree it still won't stop some scrote with a brick smashing a window or an angle grinder cutting another way in, but I do sleep sounder in my bed knowing I have taken certain measures. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
