Rob, I'm interested too mate, don't worry, but not too interested.
We haven't even got ours yet, but I tell you what I'd be really unhappy with.....if the new Defender came out next year with a 150KW V6 Diesel, I'd just feel our 90kw Puma was a bit "inadequate"? Cheers from Aus. Pickles. |

Yes, but the new Defender with its 150kW engine would still be much more a Eurobox type construction than our historic hand assembled cube with its 90kW Puma....
I know which one I want to keep for eternity You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

Eric..I want the best of both....I want what I've ordered..EXACTLY....but the addition of a 150KW diesel would be good....a bit of extra "grunt" is always ok by me!
Cheers, Pickles. |

I don't think there is too much intent to take the RK it's just that most threads like this are usually, and understandably strong on hearsay and conjecture and very short of hard facts.
Now I know a bloke of unimpeachable integrity who's sister knows someone who has groceries delivered by an old fella who is very friendly with the cousin of someone inside Land Rover [but who obviously needs to remain nameless nudge, nudge, wink wink] who once spoke to a reliable and high up source within the new Defender design team. Now this high up individual says that we are indeed in for something really special in terms of the Defender replacement and that it more than likely run on wheels and have some form of motive power. Specific details will be revealed at an official announcement within the next fifty years. I can't wait! In the meantime let the postulation continue... Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

This one was coming down off the tracks just as we were heading up. It was covered in a lot of rubber "armour" all over the front..... 2013 Aintree Green 110 Station Wagon SX |

RobKeay...I agree about the M42. I was in England in June last year and saw 2 new Range Rovers in disguise on the M40/M42. I was amazed how little effort they were taking to keep things under wraps...save a little camouflage tape. To be honest though, I got a bit excited...I felt like I was watching a piece of history unfolding - it was a big deal for a simple bloke from the back blocks of NZ (I don't get out much).

miserableolgit, I don't think anyone's taking the either, but neither do I think there's a "New" Defender around the corner...3 years I reckon...well 2016 anyway.
Cheers, Pickles. |

for what it may [or not] be worth:-
I did get this today - when I asked someone in LR:- "...this years [2014] changes are minor - interior trim- There will be a couple of special editions. Next year will see Roll Stability Control introduced to meet regs, additional benefit is electronic traction control so better off road. Nothing much planned until end of prod in '15. There is no replacement planned....." |

I thought XS already had TC? Maybe that means ABS is being rolled out to all models?

AEBS - Advanced Emergency Braking System LDW - Lane Departure Warning ....Hmm - I can see the issues with LDW on a defender when you manover off the black top onto the mud!!! the warning alarms will go into total shock!! Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html Elgar -TDCI(Puma) 110XS Dormobile - now sold Devon & Cornwall 4x4 Response - DC126 |

Those apply to wholly new vehicles (new type approval), rather than a newly built car.
Bit like why Defenders don't have DRLs. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |
