Correct, the LR anti-corrosion warranty cannot be summarized under that single common denominator. That's why I tried to be more precise in my question, and the answer from Mike was in line with the LR printed terms to which I also referred. Again, if you care to read these a few times, it is cristal clearly written, nothing murky in the text which might leave room for wrong interpretation. And that is how it should be.

With my above, I was actually answering Martin's post, but could not quote him as he was at that time the most recent post. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Jeezesssss, now I tried to clarify my own last post above, but Supacat was quicker again.
Removing that quoting of the last post thing is cause of confusion You never actually own a Defender. I can tell the difference between your post and Supacat's, don't worry
@Supacat, you've read the answer differently to how I have, and I do understand your position on it but don't agree that Mike is trying to be anything other than helpful. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Oops - have I opened a can of worms here
Well I called into a main dealer today, who told me the warranty only covered perforation - so at the rate my side steps appear to be bubbling up, they may well have perforated within the next two years, so I wonder if I will get a replacement then? - although I worry more that there will be any chassis to bolt them on to........... Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond..... |

As shown in the thread linked to earlier I was told quite categorically by both the warranty manager at my dealership and people within LR Customer Relations that the factory fit sidesteps on my XS vehicle were classed as accessories and the flaking powder coat and rust issues that appeared on these items was not covered by warranty.
As K9F rightly stated elsewhere it's a postcode lottery insomuch as a great deal depends on the attitude of the warranty manager at any at a given dealership and how hard you are able to fight your own corner. Not as black & white as that - and certainly a better answer (from my perspective as a customer) from LR Customer Relations
"Yes the side steps would be covered under the 3 year manufacturers warranty. Many Thanks Mike" http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic23030.html |
