Being taken advantage of is something that only you can decide. I reckon the usable space in the rear of a D3 and a 90 is much of a muchness. If there is room to lower the seats on the D3 then he has a lot more space than you. It all comes down to how the kit is packed. A bit of thought and everything is easily accessed. 110 D250 SE HT

I think I will have to have another look at all this and discuss the whole trip and who is doing what. I suppose if we take our own cars I have to hope he doesn't decide to get a bigger camper thing that I can't recover he was very set on a 101 for some mad reason. We will see. I just feel like I'm raining on the parade a bit. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

I was kinda thinking, if you are carrying all their kit, where are you going to put yours ? The back of a 90 fills up very quickly once you start putting in tent, sleeping bags, cooking gear, spares box, tool kit, water storage, fridge, clothes bags, etc. For 2 people, not for 5.

The load space of the Disco3 should give plenty of room for likewise for 3 people.

And also, I thought you said your missus doesn't like camping? Wink Whistle Very Happy

But anyway, whatever you decide, it has got to be right for both parties, then you'll have a fab time!

If you want to see how we will be packing my 90 for Oz, give us a shout via PM and pop around. Our blog - http://landytravels.com/

No she doesn't mind camping or even land rovers but she does get a tad scratchy at spending all day in the car, dunno why. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Awesome. So I was very gently talking to my friend about how it would be better if we went in two cars and each had our own kit for all the reasons mentioned above and that a big truck thing may be more of a liability than a boon and he has taken his bat and ball home. Great. Amazing. Go team. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

That's a real shame. Better to find out now than half way across Morocco though, I guess. Darren

Isn't that more of a problem for him than you, if he's stuck? Very Happy

Mad being the operative word. Great vehicles, but given the choice of a Defender 90, D3, and a 101, I know which I wouldn't take!

It is a bit of a kick in the guts. I doubt I will be able to go on my own as getting a pass from the farm for such a trip would not have wings. I think I would have liked it though. One for a rainy day. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

When were u going? You are more than welcome to join me on a trip to the Western Sahara next month. I am in a fully self contained 110 (2.4) overland camper and going solo as a shakedown before South America.

Anyway, probably too short notice but the invitation is there.

BTW I agree with other posters' sentiments. You have the truck - you know it and your 'partner'.

I had hoped we would be going about this time next year. Thanks for the offer though. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

You could offer a peace offering to your friend - this month's LRO has an article on buying a 101:
