Came home this evening to find Sam, my eldest Lab, had died. He was 15 so had a good innings. Cheerio old fella.

Lovely dogs, the flat coated retrievers. My first dog was one too, died last year. Daft as a brush, once jumped out the back window after a pheasant in the woods, and swam after ducks to chase them. Never happier than when in the back of the LR, so I have a lot of happy memories of her and have her photo as the background on the work computer. 1970 Series 2A 88" |

Mad as a box of frogs is the best description I ever heard of flat coat retrievers. He's such a loving dog with the kids, he's so soft with them. He's a classic flat coat really. He's 5 now and I can remember picking him up in my first land rover when he was 8 weeks old, he was my companion in my defender 90 for a long time. Michael was just telling me a story about a friend of his who slept with a land rover, lonely nights in the desert..

Thanks chaps. I've had dogs all my life so have been through it many times before and as I have others will do so again. It never gets any easier though.... Steve.
