D'Marique, will be interesting to see reactions to this discovery and please keep us informed of how you get on with installation, but.... what is that hunting or shotgun ammunition doing in the picture (At least that is what it looks like to me) You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

I guess those cartridges come as an official LR option in Russia.... Probably Land Rover Russia also offer the equivalent of the Swiss "Hunter" limited edition there. And the gunbox in the back probably is prepacked in Solihull with some rounds of these cartridges. Did not know that this type of cartridges fit into a standard Kalachnikov.... You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Reminds me of the cold starting kit for Bedford MKs and the like but guessing it's here for scale comparison?

Sounds familiar - only used one a couple of times but they all seemed to be fitted with them - was it pop in a canister, screw down lid and I seem to recall there was a manual pump handle involved somewhere?

That was is, the long handle you pull/push from the dash to get it into the inlet manifold.
Never used one in anger, only fiddling with it when bored. |

I'm guessing if there was someone at the MOD responding on an MOD forum to the question "What optional extras did you spec that you later realised were not required/were useless" then this kit should be close to the top of the list

going back on topic, when I refitted my heater, i added a switch on the dash, of course the other option is to remove the fuse unless you are going somewhere where the temperature is < -10C

In the OP, Steve said that any issue with this was resolved by LR as of VIN 7A776667. In our climates here, and with my VIN which starts with 9Axxxxxx, is there going to be any issue?

Talked to "Ford Transit" serviceman this weekend & he said, that on ford this heater works 12 months a year and 7 days a week Nothing happens, cause the temprature is quite low, he said...just warm & not even hot So, i found the cable to connect the heater, but it seems, that there's no such socket/plug on LR... On Transit it is simple: disconnect the existing connection and plug the heater cable in parallel (sorry, for mess-explanation) Here are the pics Maybe someone will recognize it? If no, then the opposite to the heater end of the cable is to cut & connect to the cabin heater fan, as some dealers do. You turn on the cabin heater & the breather is heating as well; your turn off the cabin heater if it's warm - & the breather heater is turned off also. Something like that... P.S. And of course, the p/n of the cable: Ford 1540797 |
