hi keith thanks for your time.
we found a mechanic locally who checked the quality and quantity of oil and it was ok. he thinks that our problem is the synchromesh between 3rd and 4th that is the problem and if i drive steady with slow careful gearchanges we will be ok. we found grand auto on internet earlier and are going there for a second opinion. thanks for taking the time to help.it is much appreciated. martin. |

Where abouts on the coast?
I was looking at taking the quad down next year but was struggling to find safe parking while we rode out. Is there parking for several vehicles? Going down in the middle of Oct this year. Rough plan is to enter Croatia NW of Zagreb and then head to the coast and travel towards Split. Not been there since I went with the UN in the early 90's. Will be good to go back and see how much it's improved. Would love to go to Bosnia as well but my insurance won't cover me and unsure how much use the locally purchased insurance will be. Any help with advice over that would be good if you have any experience of it. 110 D250 SE HT 110 USW SOLD RRE HSE Dynamic Gone, wife killed it VOLVO XC60 R Dynamic with some toys Polaris RZR 900XP SOLD |

When I lived in Sarajevo I had my Defender insured with Sarajevo-Osiguranja d.d. I had a big claim (radio and cd changer stolen, most damage caused by Husky winch and Land Rover spotlights removed by their using an angle grinder to cut through the bull bar) which was paid out with little fuss other than hanging about forever in a police station to fill in forms.
Website www.sarajevoosiguranje.ba, telephone (Sarajevo Head Office) 00387 33 569 600 Lovely country to visit, wonderful people, cheapest ski slopes in Europe, Bjelašnica, Jahorina and Mount Igman used for the 1984 Winter Olympics (and Torvill and Dean are still alive and kicking). You WON’T be doing any off-roading though!!! Peter |

Admittedly a lot of the country has been de-mined, but even "cleared" areas can have one or two resurface after the snows, those laid in rivers are still a problem, and one hopes that the occasional detonation one hears on a Sunday (when no mine clearing is carried out) is caused by cattle or a wild animal...
Depends where you off-road, I guess. Peter |

@ Wurzel
Many thanks. I spent a glorious 6 months based in Split at the beginning of the 90's. Very nice area. @ Birdy Just pulling your leg. I know exactly the mine situation down there. I spent over 12 months there during the "issues" and mapped out the MSR's (Route circle, diamond, square etc etc) Have a very good friend who has just finished a secondment down there on the demining side of life. I understand all about mine migration through the soil etc etc. It was my trade for over 20 yrs. 110 D250 SE HT 110 USW SOLD RRE HSE Dynamic Gone, wife killed it VOLVO XC60 R Dynamic with some toys Polaris RZR 900XP SOLD |
