Sub wiring routes
I am looking to install my subwoofer with built in amp very soon and looking for advice before i start, I understand I need to run a live from the battery via a fuse to the sub and need to run an earth from sub to body as short as possible, where have you run yours?
Also I will need to run a remote cable and two RCA/phono type cables from the head unit to the sub (which will be in the rear) which is the best route?
Cheers

Earth on a suitable bolt that has a good earth too it, substantial if possible. I used one along the lip on the cab side of the bulkhead on the floor.
Power I took out of the battery box out along with the others through some protective conduit and through the plate under the cubby (Using a cable gland) [A grommet would equally work]
From these route where ever you like.
For your cables from the HU i.e. RCA & remote I would run along the transmission tunnel area under the carpet or matting.
Try and keep you signals cables as far away from power cables if possible and where practical to avoid possible problems. IF the have to cross at right angles is best but don't worry too much about it. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

i only have a small underseat one on the back of the cubby and put my +ve and -ve behind the passenger side and into a grommit for the heated seats to the battery, The signal and L + R i put under the cubby and then under the carpets and up to the head unit. The rmote sits to the right of the steering column and took the same routes as the head unit and extended across. William

I fitted mine using an umbillical type cable following the same route and process as Custom90steve (probably the identical glands with the same batch number too perhaps?) so dependant on what I'm carrying the sub can be moved about the rear of the truck out of harms way if need be.

Rolling with laughter If I am going to be rendered incapacitated by my pedal lock in the event of a crash the sub can have a second go! (Forum joke!).

Bear,

Killer and myself have different Sub's installed and I dare say through different methods and routes. Both vehicles will be at Peterborough so maybe pop over with a Camera and you can have a look/ take pictures Smile We will both be up there by tomorrow evening. Also opposite is Matt (FCX) with the frankly pornographic orange interior 130 which I think I recall has a sub in there and can have a look (he left the doors open for people to look in at Billing)

Hope this helps with a solution to your query

Thanks Lish Thumbs Up

Yes, you are very welcome to come and have a look at the FCX130.

We ran ALL cables externally through various lengths of convoluted tubing with gland fittings at each end, happy to show you Cool

As Steve has said, we ran audio leads in different tubes to power cables to eliminate 'noise'
